Wednesday w/Elephants in the Streets, Hurricanes and Lots o' Music!

Happy Summer - Let's celebrate!

Circus Parade!

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus presents - The Crescent City Summer Celebration Parade TODAY at 11:00 am - The second annual Crescent City Summer Celebration Parade will roll through downtown and begins at the intersection of Girod St. & Loyola Avenue. This amazing event is free and open to the public and will feature exotic animals and appearances by Ringling Bros. Ringmaster Brian Crawford Scott, clowns and performers. Guests will also have a chance to win FREE tickets to opening night by catching some of Ringling's exciting throws!

*The parade will commence at the New Orleans Arena and travel down Girod Street, turn left on Carondelet Street, down Poydras Street to Sugar Bowl Drive and conclude on W Stadium Drive back to the New Orleans Arena. As the parade comes to the end, a "watering" event will be held at the Loyola Avenue and Poydras Street intersection where spectators will have a chance to see how Ringling keeps its largest and most pampered animals cool in the summer heat. Don't miss all the fun!!

Check out the Canstruction Exhibition - The AIA New Orleans will begin a month-long exhibition of sculptures and pictograms made entirely of canned goods with a reception tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at their Center for Design (1000 St. Charles Ave.). This year's "Canstruction" features the theme "10,000 reasons to love New Orleans;" each structure, donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank, is built with the intention of providing 10,000 canned meals. The overall goal of Canstruction is to collect 100,000 meals.

Country - No Depression boom and have been recording and performing ever since.  Teaming up with former members of Tribe Nunzio and other New Orleans music luminaries, they've stayed true to their Country/Soul sound.  Of their latest release ‘Lucky You’ , Britain’s Rock n Reel Magazine wrote The Believers are “What Johnny Cash and The Tennessee Three might’ve sounded like if they’d jammed with The White Stripes.”  You're not going to want to miss this one!!

I made a boo boo yesterday...sorry, about that. THIS evening at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art (925 Camp St.) - Collecting 101: A Conversation with Collectors: Sydney Besthoff, Jill Dupre, Josh Mayer and Will Erickson.  How does one become an art collector?  This panel will give a first-hand account how these four collectors started, and how their collections grew and changed (and are still changing).  Questions will address the basics of collecting—such as dealing with a gallery or artist, and funding—to the more personal, such as why they collect what they do.
