Concerts, Culture and Free Music at Chickie's!

Good Morning Everybody - lots of good things going on to help you with your hump day!

Concert and Culture:

The Wednesdays on the Point concert series continues this afternoon in Algiers and runs through August 10th  from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., and of course, admission is FREE (There's gonna be a special concert on July 4th - click the link for more info!)...Tonight head to the Algiers Ferry Dock (200Morgan St.) for Luther Kent and The Mumbles - remember you can take the ferry over for FREE - it's a beautiful ride across the river! 

Experience an evening of cultural indulgences at the JW Marriott Lobby Lounge (614 Canal St.) this evening from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. tonight!  The event will feature original quilted fabric collages by Dr. Sara "Saharah" Hollis, Director of the Master of Arts in Museum Studies Program at SUNU.  The theme is "A Life in Fabrics-Forty Years of Creating Beauty with Cloth".  There's also music by multi instrumentalist, Tony Seville and a spirit tasting with complimentary hors d'oeuvres.  Parking is available at a special event rate of $5 on Common Street.

Wednesday Evening Music

There's good stuff going on in Mid-City!

Go by Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) for  an amazing evening of music tonight at 8:00 pm!!  The Believers bring their roots sounds and to Chickie's for a FREE weekday show.  Founding members Craig Aspen & Cyd Frazzini formed the band ten years ago in Seattle amid the Alt. Country - No Depression boom and have been recording and performing ever since.  Teaming up with former members of Tribe Nunzio and other New Orleans music luminaries, they've stayed true to their Country/Soul sound.  Of their latest release ‘Lucky You’ , Britain’s Rock n Reel Magazine wrote The Believers are “What Johnny Cash and The Tennessee Three might’ve sounded like if they’d jammed with The White Stripes.”  You're not going to want to miss this one!! 

Stay in Mid-City and head on down to Banks Street Bar (4401 Banks) for some Major Bacon and some FREE BLTs - tonight at 10:00 pm...you can never get enough of the bacon!!

If you're hanging out in Broadmoor (and if not, get on over there!!) You can get some yummy food and great music tonight over at The Rendon Inn (4501 Eve Street) it's singer/songwriter Marc Stone tonight at 7:00 pm!!

Looking for some dinner and then some music for dessert?  Rock 'N Bowl (3016 S. Carrollton) can help you out!  Get an entree' over at Ye Olde College Inn and then get a half price ticket to the show right next door at Rock N' Bowl....Tonight they've got Swing-A-Roux at 8:30 pm - and you'll be dancing the night away!
