A Music Filled Tuesday!

Happy Tuesday Everybody,

You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!!!  Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm and pick up some fresh seafood, veggies and you can even get some lunch!  Greg and Mary Sonnier of Gabrielle at the Uptowner kick off another year of local chefs committed to cooking with local ingredients this today....On the menu: Beef and Greens Gumbo, Smoked Pulled Pork with Cole Slaw (sandwich or plate), Cauliflower and Cheese Casserole Au Gratin, Vanilla Cupcakes with Chocolate Buttercream...yummy!!

Good Stuff Tonight!

It's gonna be a great evening to hang out at the The Columns (3811 St. Charles Ave.)...Have a cocktail and listen to the amazing trio of Jimmy Robinson, Phil DeGruy, & John Rankin...this is going to be some amazing music!

For more music fun....come on down to Chickie Wah Wah on Canal Street to enjoy the amazing New Orleans Nightcrawlers!!  Music starts about 8:00 pm, but come out early for some yummy food!

There's a triple header over at the Spotted Cat (623 Frenchmen) starting up at 4:00 pm with Brett Richardson, then stay on for Smokin' Time Jazz Club at 10:00 pm, and finish off the night with Meschiya Lake & The Little Big Horns at 10:00 pm!!

If you're lookin' for some Rockin' and Bowlin' and some good food too...Have some dinner over at Ye Olde College Inn..where you'll get some yummy food and a discounted ticket to Rock 'N Bowl...right next door!!  Dance the night away with Johnny Angel tonight...the show gets kickin' about 8:30 pm.

Monday Music!

Happy Monday Everybody!...It's supposed to be a rainy one tonight, but you stay dry and go listen to some amazing music tonight!

BMC (1331 Decatur) has a great early show at 6:00 pm with Fun in the Pocket featuring Mayumi Shara (drummer extraordinaire)...then stay on for the next show at 9:30 with Smokey Greenwell's Blues Jam!!

Head over to Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) for an amazing evening of music with Tom McDermott and Kevin Clark from the Dukes of Dixieland at 8:00 pm...If you haven't been to Chickie's yet you need to get on over there...they've got some amazing food and it's smoke free!!

Enjoy this lovely evening around the fire at The Columns....They've got David Doucet from BeauSoleil fame at 8:00 pm, and while you're enjoying the sounds be sure to have an adult beverage to warm you on up!

Keepin' Warm with some TGIF'n Fun!!

And there's Starlight Racing with The Topcats tonight at the New Orleans Fairgrounds! Racing returns tonight with nine races under the stars starting at 5 p.m. The Topcats hit the Clubhouse stage at 6 p.m. and the (well-heated) Miller Beer Garden features drink specials and specialty food vendors all evening!!

There's lots of good music going on tonight!!

Celebrate on Bourbon Street with a FREE operatic performance by vocalists from the New Orleans Opera Association for a very special Opera on Tap at The Inn On Bourbon's Puccini Bar (541 Bourbon) tonight at 7:00 pm!   The Inn On Bourbon is located at the site of the French Opera House (1859-1919) and continues to celebrate its history with the live performance series.  Special $5 parking at The Inn On Bourbon is extended to all guests attending the performances.

The Windsor Court holds a monthly Artist Showcase series, featuring local artists and including a monthly reception for the artist. The artist spotlighted this month is Louisianan Rebecca Rebouché, who describes her style as “contemporary folk art”...it features whimsical images that are simple yet powerful.  The reception tonight is from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and will have complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeurves. RSVP by calling 522-1994.

Dance Your Sunday Away!!!

Time to get over those Saints blues...every year can't be the Super Bowl and let's not forget we had one of hell of year in 2010!!  Let's keep celebrating today!

It's the King Cake Kick-Off Party at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algiers (620 Eliza).  The fun starts off at noon with king cakes, food and drinks and entertainment by Benny Grunch and the Bunch! 

Head on down to the Quarter for the Jazz in the Park Concert Series at the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park (916 N. Peters) the FREE concert starts up at 3:00 pm with a performance by Stephen Dale.

The Trinity Artists Series continues today at Trinity Episcopal Church (1329 Jackson) with Ruby Caribbean Funk led by Rudy Mills....the fun starts up at 5:00 pm and it's FREE!

And of course you got more music tonight!

Dance to the Latin sounds of Fredy Omar at the 12 Bar (608 Fulton) starting up at 6:00 pm.

1:30pm - Sculpture Garden Tour by Pamela Buckman
2pm - Opera a la Carte in the Sculpture Garden (in case of bad weather, Opera will be in Auditorium)
4pm - Art Activity ends
4:30pm - Last admission


Celebrate the Battle of New Orleans Anniversary - "The British are coming, the British are coming" to the Chalmette Battlefield to commemorate the Battle of New Orleans. Walk through British and American camps, listen to generals planning strategy, soldiers swapping stories around campfires, and women wondering what fate has in store for New Orleans. Over 100 living history experts share stories of the War of
1812, fire cannons and muskets, and bring the era to life. Also check out the Kid's Camp where the little ones can make pirate and military hats, play period games, and try on military uniforms. End the day with lunch or dinner at Rocky & Carlo's Restaurant. The kids will love it!

It's Carnival Time...Parades, Parties and Po-Boy-Citos!!

Carnival time is upon us and there's quite a few fun things you can do to celebrate!!

Gather round the Willow Streetcar barn (S. Carrolton at Willow) at 6:30 to toast the Krewe of Phunny Phorty Fellows....They'll be some music by the Storyville Stompers and a toast to the Krewe for the big sendoff at 7:00 pm!  Bring your own libations, or grab one at Carrollton Station right on the corner!!

If you're thinking about heading to the French Quarter on this beautiful evening...check out the Third Annual Joan of Arc Parade....12th Night is St. Joan's birthday and this is the perfect way to celebrate her birthday.  The parade gets kickin' at 6:00 pm at the Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne, Sieur de Bienville statue and park at Conti and Decatur and ends at the golden Joan of Arc statue at the New Place de France at Decatur and St. Phillip Streets at approximately 6:45 p.m. The parade route goes along Chartres Street, crosses Jackson Square, and continues past St. Louis Cathedral to the other side of Chartres to St. Phillip Street.

If you're not in the mood for a parade and looking for some great music...you've got your options too!! Head on down to The Ogden Southern Museum of Art today for Ogden after Hours.   Music starts up at 6:00 pm with the boogaloo sounds of Los Po-Boy-Citos!!

It's Suga Bowl Eve...so, go out and celebrate!!

Don't miss the Allstate Sugar Bowl Fan Fest today from Noon to 8:00 pm (located at the Jax Brewery parking lots off Decatur Street). You also need to go by the Circle Bar tonight...rumor has it they'll be closing (just for a bit) for some renovations. So, go party down at the big blowout tonight with The Happy Talk Band + O.L.D. + Rik Slave and The Phantoms + Felix!!! The fun gets going at 10:00 pm...If it's an early evening for you go by at 6:00 pm for Micah McKee and Friends!
