Due to the bad weather on Friday Uncle Lionel's Second Line was rescheduled for today, and you're invited to the celebration beginning at 11 am at Charbonnet - Labat - Glapion Funeral Home (1615 Saint Philip St) with internment following the jazz procession at Mount Olivet Cemetery (4100 Norman Mayer Blvd.).
Monday Night Music
Catch some Kermit Ruffins early in the evening at his new club "Kermit's Treme Speakeasy Restaurant" (1535 Basin St.) - Kermit and the BBQ Swingers will be performing at 6:00 pm - so come on by for some great music and of course some Monday night red beans!!
Head on over to The Irish House (1432 St. Charles) for a lovely pint of your favorite brew and a Traditional Irish Music Session at 7:00 pm!

Mardi Gras World presents Jammin' On the River - A free series along the riverfront @ Mardi Gras World this summer featuring premier talent from New Orleans artists along with gourmet food trucks, beverage and craft vendors all in a family friendly environment. DJs close out each night as the sun goes down. The series kicks off July 13th with The Boogiemen and Vox And The Hound and ...continues through August 31st with artists including the Grammy Winning Rebirth Brass Band, George Porter Jr., Hot 8 Brass Band, Bag of Donuts and many more. Friday w/Second Line for Uncle Lionel and Lots of Music!
Happy Friday!
Celebrate the life of Uncle Lionel this afternoon with a Second Line to remember and honor his memory and spirit! The second line will start at Tuba Fats Square on the corner of St. Philip and N. Robertson in the Treme, and end at Sweet Lorraine's Jazz Club at 1931 St. Claude. See the route belwo. (We are also Asking All Second Line Clubs to Dress out)
Following the Second Line, there is a benefit at Sweet Lorraine's. Taking the stage to honor the legend will be trumpeters Kermit Ruffins and Kid Merv, singer Michael Baptiste, NOLA R&B mainstay Deacon John, singer Danon Smith and Jazz violinist Michael Ward. The show starts at 7 p.m.
A memorial fund has been set up for Uncle Lionel Batiste at Liberty Bank and Trust. Donations can be made to the fund by going to any branch. If you have any questions please contact Glenda McKinley at 504-915-1552.
