Tuesdays with Veggies, History and Music!

Happy Tuesday Everybody!

You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!!!  Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm and pick up some fresh seafood, veggies and you can even get some lunch! Chef Mark Quitney of styley downtown restaurant 5 Fifty 5 (named for its address on Canal Street) heads Uptown to dish out debronzed redfish with jumbo lump crabmeat and roasted peppers, super creamy lobster mac, heirloom bread salad and assorted sweets .....yummy!!

It's the Bouligny Lecture Series with Thomas E. Chavez this evening from 6:30 to 9:30 pm at the Historic New Orleans Collection (533 Royal)...the Francisco Bouligny Lecture, is an annual program examining the shared history between Spain and Louisiana.  Thomas E. Chávez, New Mexico historian, museum professional and author “Spain and the Independence of the United States: An Intrinsic Gift”.  Though frequently overlooked, Spain played a major role during the American Revolution, aiding the thirteen colonies in their rebellion against Britain. Thomas E. Chávez will explore Spain’s reasoning, its position during the war and how Spain’s assistance led to the formation of the United States.   This lecture is FREE and open to the public.

Good Stuff Tonight!

It's gonna be a great evening to hang out at the The Columns (3811 St. Charles Ave.)...Have a cocktail and listen to the amazing John Rankin at 8:00 pm...it's a lovely night for porch sippin'!

There's a triple header over at the Spotted Cat (623 Frenchmen) starting up at 4:00 pm with Brett Richardson, then stay on for Smokin' Time Jazz Club at 6:00 pm, and finish off the night with Meschiya Lake & The Little Big Horns at 10:00 pm!!

If you missed it last week - no worries! You can get your fix of Hawaiian music with Hawaii 504 tonight - it's Hawaiian music with a New Orleans groove over at the Balcony Music Club (1331 Decatur) tonight at 8:30 pm...Aloha!

You need to go by the Maple Leaf Bar on Oak Street for the early show.  Cluck! Nite featuring Three Piece Spicy + Creole Cookin' (with some FREE food)...and make sure you stay up late for the REBIRTH Brass Band!!
