Go hang out at City Park this evening and enjoy music from Banu Gibson for the Thursdays at Twilight Garden Concert Series! Gibson stands virtually at the top of her field. A superior and swinging jazz singer, Banu is one of the few vocalists of her generation to maintain exclusive loyalty to songs of the 1920s, '30s, and '40s. A powerful force on stage, her enthusiasm and showmanship ! Gates open up at 5:00 pm and the performance starts at 6:00 pm in the City Park Botanical Garden Pavilion of the Two Sisters...There is an admission charge, but hey, it's helping the Park out...$10 for adults and $3 for children (it was $3 last year :)
Need a little art, culture and music? You gotta go to the show at the Ogden Southern Museum of Art (925 Camp St.) - better known as Ogden after Hours. Tonight the Ogden presents Ken Swartz and The Palace of Sin - Start with Delta Blues and add a dash of jam band, and you have a creatively concocted evening with this New Orleans ensemble! Tonight the O BAR's specialty drink is The Rum Diary: After a sip or two of this mélange of Calypso Spiced Rum, coconut milk, simple syrup and a splash of a tropical fruit juice you will be ready to create a story or two! And....my hubby Bill deTurk will be doing the interview today - so you definitely don't want to miss it!
