TGIF w/Courtyard Concerts, Movies at the Museum & Lots of Music!

Happy Friday!

Wine and Concerts!

Start off your evening with a wine tasting at Swirl on Ponce de Leon (right of Esplanade) at 6:00 pm and right down the street at Fairgrinds Coffee House you got Lips and the Trips at 7:30 pm...you don't want to miss Lips - it's going to be a great show!!

Head down to the Quarter for the spring season finale performance for Concerts in the Courtyard at the Historic New Orleans Collection....Experience a concert in the courtyard at the Historic New Orleans Collection in the heart of the French Quarter - 533 Royal Street. The show is from 6:00 to 8:00 pm with Creole String Beans...In true south Louisiana style, the Beans mix swamp pop and classic R&B. The band includes Rick Olivier (guitar/vocals), Rob Savoy (bass/vocals), Brian Rini (organ/vocals), and Bryan Barry (drums), with Derek Huston (baritone sax) and Travis Blotsky (tenor sax)!! Admission is $10, FREE for THNOC members, and includes 2 complimentary champagne cocktails from Cafe Amelie! Guests must be 21 or older to enter and memberships begin at the low low price of $65.00 per household.

Another Night at the Museum!

Check out The Where Y'Art? party this evening over at the New Orleans Museum of Art starting at 5:00 pm with Gallery & Exhibition Tours, lots of fun activities and music!! The event is FREE with museum admissions. $10 Adults, $8 seniors, students, active military, $6 children ages 17 to 7, children 6 and under are free.
*5pm to 8pm: Art Making Activity by Nina Nichols, artist-in-residence at A Studio in the Woods
*5:30pm to 8:30pm: Music by Sarah Quintana
*6pm: Lecture by artist, Katie Holten
*7pm: Art You Can Eat: Artistic License: Cocktails Reinterpreted as Dessert - Edible Sazeracs, Mint Juleps, Brandy Milk Punch and more!: Brett Gauthier, Executive Pastry Chef, RBRG (Reservations requested) http://cafenoma-artyoucaneat.eventbrite.com/

And there's double the fun at NOMA, because the Wizard of OZ has been rescheduled for tonight!

Join the New Orleans Museum of Art, as they present music, art making, and an outdoor screening of the classic film The Wizard of OZ tonight in the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden at NOMA. See below for the night’s scheduled events. Admission: $6 for adults : Children (17 & under), free : $3 for NOMA/NOFS/Members (No more than 4 discount tickets may be purchased.) No outside food or beverages will be permitted. Please bring a blanket (recommended) or folding chair for seating.

Schedule for the Night:

*5 pm to 8pm: Food by Crêpes à la Cart, La Cocinita, Green To Go NOLA, NOLA Snow Snowballs (additional purchase required)
*6 pm to 8pm: Music by Cindy Scott
*5 pm to 7pm: Art Making Activity with Three Ring Circus.
*8:15 pm (sundown): Film: The Wizard of OZ - come dressed as your favorite character.

Get on over to Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) for happy hour and stay for Alex McMurray at 8:00 pm - and be sure to come hungry for delicious pizza and more!

And there's more good music in Mid-City (almost Uptown) over at Rock 'N Bowl (3016 S. Carrollton) for Crescent City Soul Band plus No Idea at 9:30 pm!! Remember if you eat at Ye Olde College Inn right next door you get a discount to the show! Happy rockin' and bowlin'!

Let the Carousel Lounge in the Monteleone Bar (214 Royal) spin you around with the swinging sounds of Lena Prima at 9:00 pm.  It's a cool place for some fun and fancy cocktails!

You can get started early at the Spotted Cat (623 Frenchmen) with Ben Polcer at 4:00 pm, Washboard Chaz Jazz Trio at 6:00 pm, and the New Orleans Cottonmouth Kings at 10:00 pm.

Right down the street you have another trio of shows at BMC (1331 Decatur)...with El the Orazio and Friends Band at 3:00 pm, Big Soul Band at 6:00 pm, and Dana Abbot at 9:00 pm!!

d.b.a.'s (618 Frenchmen) got a double header with The Hot Club of New Orleans at 6:00 pm, and stay on for Shamarr Allen & The Underdawgs at 10:00 pm...there's a $10 cover, but you don't want to miss the show!!

Top off the evening with a FREE show at 10:00 pm over at Tipitina's it's Stooges Brass Band plus Local Skank!
