Monday is Hooky Day and Free Red Beans

Good Morning!

What a beautiful day and another good one for playin' Monday hooky....so besides just lounging around on a blanket at your park of choice....City, Audubon, Lafreniere, the Lakefront or just cruising around the Quarter....Here are some fun things to do today!

For those of you who stayed in bed too long, and are looking for a unique New Orleans thing to do....Check out Vella Vetro Art Glass at 3000 Royal St on the 2nd Floor. You can come by anytime Monday thru Friday 9 - 3 pm for free glass blowing demonstrations.

If you decided to go hang out at City Park to feed the ducks and crazy geese....be sure to check out the fancy new dog park - NOLA City Bark....and if you have a pup of your own....you can register them for a small fee...also, doggie must be up to date with shots.

Well if you had enough relaxing in the park on this gorgeous day - here are some fun music events for tonight!!

Featured Monday Music

For some FREE red beans and rice and the cool sounds of  Amanda Walker....take a walk along the River Road levee this evening and make a stop at the River Shack Tavern...Amanda and the band will be playing at 7:00 pm tonite!

The Columns on St. Charles Avenue has Cajun music legend David Doucet at 8:00 pm. Sit on the porch, drink a cocktail and watch the streetcars go by.

Another amazing early evening show is Bob French & the Original Tuxedo Band - stop by Irvin Mayfield's Jazz Playhouse at about 8:00 pm to hear Mr. French and the Band...you'll be glad you did.  I even heard he had an audience with the President recently...and NO COVER.

The always super fun Chickie Wah Wah on Canal Street, has Evan Christopher and Clarinet Road at 8:00 pm.....and be sure to enjoy some yummy food while you listen.

If you're lookin' for some bluegrass music this evening...you don't have to go too far to find it....Check out the Hi Ho Lounge and the Bluegrass Pickin' Party at 8:00 pm...I hear there's no cover and FREE red beans at this show too!

That should keep you busy for now....and I think you won't have any problems getting your fill of red beans and rice this evening....until tomorrow!
