A Sad Day for New Orleans

Good Morning All,

It's a truly sad day in New Orleans this Tuesday, but also a time to celebrate the life and music of one of the City's legends...Miss Marva Wright. Today's blog is dedicated to her soul as a person and her soulful voice we all loved so much.

If you can't make her memorial service today - take some time to listen to some of her wonderful music - she will be remembered always. (Here's a link to to Miss Marva's site - so you can listen in and please take the time to read her eulogy by Times-Picayune writer, Keith Spera.)

Today's Services

The wake for Marva will be at Gallier Hall today, Tuesday, March 30th from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

The Musical Tribute will be at Gallier Hall, from 6:00 PM to 8 PM - The BMW's (Band of Marva Wright: Benny Turner, Keiko Komaki, Jeffrey Alexander and June Yamagishi), Charmaine Neville, Davell Crawford, Rockin' Dopsie, Jr., The Wild Magnolias, and many more will pay tribute to Marva.

The church service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesay morning, March 31st, at New Hope Baptist Church, 1807 LaSalle - New Orleans.
