Wednesday at the Square or Under the Oaks???

Good Morning All,

Why is there sooooo much to do in this Town?? But seriously I'm not complainin'....

Two of my most favorite events are today, and I haven't figured out how to clone myself - so you decide what you want to do.

Wednesday Events

First, it's Wednesday, so that can mean only one thing....Lafayette Square and this is the big one before Jazz Fest weekend.  For this week's installment of Wednesday at the Square....we have Amanda Shaw (who I love!!) plus Mark Adam Miller (who is amazing!).  Things get kicked off at 5:00 and go all the way to 7:30.  Be sure to check out the cool art and yummy food while you're cruising around.

Okay, to make my life super confusing it's also the Ochsner Swing in the Oaks.  It's a free concert with the LPO on City Park's Goldring/Woldenberg Great Lawn starting up at 6:30 pm.  Enjoy a spectacular evening of popular favorites from Sullivan's H.M.S Pinafore to Gershwin's Girl Crazy Overture to Sondheim's Gypsy Overture.  Be sure to bring your picnics, family, and friends for a fun-filled evening!  This is such a special event and it's so much fun to check out the super fancy picnics some people bring out there!

Alright, once you've solved your early evening scheduling dilemna...here's what's going on tonight!

Wednesday Evening Music

If you're in the Marigny be sure to go by dba on Frenchmen Street for the early show at 7:00 pm with the Mirlitones (don't you love the name!)...and Walter Wolfman Washington is in for the 10:00 pm show!

The Iguanas are back at Chicke Wah Wah on Canal for a Wednesday night show through April 19th.  The band gears up at 8:00 pm - so put on your dancing shoes and go check it out!

A little later in the evening you've got Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue record release party at the Republic (828 S. Peters).   Show starts up at 9:00 pm ..check out this line-up!  The event will be hosted by Kermit Ruffins with performances by Rebirth Brass Band, Free Agents Brass Band, Hot 8 Brass Band and Juvenile.  Other Special Invited guests include Irvin Mayfield, James Andrews, Big Sam of Big Sam's Funky Nation, Shamarr Allen and actor Wendell Pierce.  The event is open to all fans and friends of Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue.  To attend, Please RSVP to meetusbackatown@gmail.com for list admission.

Well...that should keep you busy for now.  Be sure to check out Offbeat for all the music going down in Town!  And by the way.....Only two more days 'til Jazz Fest!!!
