You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!!! Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm. Chef Guillermo Peters of Canal Street Bistro makes his debut under the Green Plate Special tent. Can’t wait to try his Cuban and Caprese sandwiches with sides of German potato salad, quinoa salad and horchata to wash it down. Stop by the Tuesday market and help welcome Chef Guillermo to the market, and pick up lunch while you’re there.....Yum!

The Marine and Navy Band’s from New Orleans will be performing two joint FREE concerts to celebrate Independence Day. The concerts will be today and tomorrow at 7:00 pm at the St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square. What a great way to start off your holiday!
Tonight head on down to Lafreniere Park (3000 Downs Blvd.) for Uncle Sam Jam 2012 at 5:00 pm. The Annual Family Day with Music & Fireworks Display. The Jam features food & beverage concessions, music, and fireworks display. Performance by Ghost Town (5-7pm); the New Orleans Concert Band (7-9pm); FIREWORKS AT 9 PM; and The Yat Pack (9:15-11:00 pm). FREE ADMISSION! Don't forget your blanket or lawn chairs AND enjoy the evening under the stars!

And there's a great evening on the Avenue, because it's another lovely southern night for porch sitting and music over at the The Columns (3811 St. Charles Ave.) from 8:00 to 11:00 pm...Have a fancy cocktail and listen to the music of John Rankin!

Patriotic Monday Music and Lots of Fun 'Round Town!

Start celebarting the 4th a little early with some patriotic music in a most beautiful setting. The Marine and Navy Band’s from New Orleans will be performing two joint FREE concerts to celebrate Independence Day. The concerts will be today and tomorrow at 7:00 pm at the St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square. What a great way to start off your holiday!
Catch some Kermit Ruffins early in the evening at his new club "Kermit's Treme Speakeasy Restaurant" (1535 Basin St.) - Kermit and the BBQ Swingers will be performing at 6:00 pm - so come on by for some great music and of course some Monday night red beans!!
Head on over to The Irish House (1432 St. Charles) for a lovely pint of your favorite brew and a Traditional Irish Music Session at 7:00 pm!

Tuesday Holiday Fun w/some Irvin Mayfield & Benny Grunch!!

Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm and pick up some fresh seafood, veggies and you can even grab some lunch! December brings the fabulous food truck Geaux Plates to the Tuesday market. They'll be set-up right along side where the GPS tent usually is (making room for additional seating under the tent). Stop by and enjoy one of their delicious Vietnamese po-boys......yummy!!

Head on down to Mid-City and to the Banks Street Bar (4401 Banks) about 10:00 pm for the N'awlins Johnnys and FREE red beans tonight!
And If you're lookin' for some bluegrass music tonight you don't have to go too far to find it....Check out the Hi Ho Lounge (2239 St. Claude) and the Bluegrass Pickin' Party at 8:00 pm....plus cheap and yummy and red beans (veggie red beans too) and it's smoke-free!!

Monday - Come Celebrate the Life of Coco Robicheaux
Happy Monday Everybody - Celebrate the life a true New Orleans original - Coco Robicheaux!
Family, friends and fans of Coco Robicheaux, beloved local musician and ever familiar face on Frenchmen Street, will commemorate and celebrate his life with a Second-Line Parade and Concert today. The second line will begin on Frenchmen Street in in the Faubourg Marigny at 3:30 p.m. and the Treme Brass Band will lead the procession through the Marigny and French Quarter. The procession will conclude at the House of Blues (225 Decatur) at about 6 p.m. and there will be a free concert featuring Glen David Andrews, Walter "Wolfman" Washington, Honey Island Swamp Band, John Mooney, J. Monque'D, Irene Sage and others. Come celebrate the life of a true New Orleans character.

Enjoy the sounds of the season at the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Louis in Jackson Square. Produced by French Quarter Festivals, Inc., the St. Louis Cathedral Concerts feature a variety of New Orleans artists including well-known jazz, classical, and gospel musicians. Beloved holiday classics and gospel favorites will be performed in one of the country's most beautiful and historic churches.

The light display is generously donated by the family of the late Al Copeland - The park comes alive for the holidays with thousands of twinkling lights and displays.
And there's more holiday fun at City Park with Celebration in the Oaks! The Celebration runs nightly through January 1st - Sunday thru Thursday from 6:00 pm to 10:00pm and Friday & Saturday 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm (closed Christmas Eve and New Years Eve). There are fabulous new exhibits, nightly entertainment, synthetic ice skating rink, amusement park rides. If you're Uptown - Enjoy an early holiday Monday with some porch sippin' over at the Columns Hotel (3811 St. Charles)....Tonight David Doucet of Beausoleil fame performs at 8:00 pm tonight!
Head on down to Mid-City and to the Banks Street Bar (4401 Banks) about 10:00 pm for the N'awlins Johnnys and FREE red beans tonight!
And If you're lookin' for some bluegrass music tonight you don't have to go too far to find it....Check out the Hi Ho Lounge (2239 St. Claude) and the Bluegrass Pickin' Party at 8:00 pm....plus cheap and yummy and red beans (veggie red beans too) and it's smoke-free!!

d.b.a. (618 Frenchmen) has an excellent double header tonight with Washboard Chaz Blues Trio at 6:00 pm, and stay on for Glen David Andrews at 9:00 pm (there's a $5 cover for the late show - but that's not much to pay for this performance!)
BMC (1331 Decatur) has a great early show at 5:00 pm with Lil Red and Big Bad...then stay on for the next show at 9:30 with Smoky Greenwell's Blues Jam!!
And two great shows at the Maison (508 Frenchmen) with The Royal Roses at 7:00 pm, and The New Orleans Super Jam at 10:00 pm.
Be sure to make a stop by the Spotted Cat (623 Frenchmen) early for this great line-up of music...Brett Richardson at 4:00 pm, Dominick Grillo and The Frenchmen Street All Stars at 6:00 pm and be sure to stay on for Kristina Morales and the Bayou Shufflers at 10:00 pm.....it's sure to be another smokin' Monday evening show.
To top off you're evening....you gotta go Uptown and over to the Maple Leaf (8316 Oak) for Papa Grows Funk at 10:00 pm - they'll get your Monday night funked up - remember there's a cover - but it's worth it!!!

A Tuesday with Veggies, Holiday Music and More!
Happy Tuesday Everybody!
You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market and stock up on your holiday menu items too!!! Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm and pick up some fresh seafood, veggies and you can even grab some lunch! December brings the fabulous food truck Geaux Plates to the Tuesday market. They'll be set-up right along side where the GPS tent usually is (making room for additional seating under the tent). Stop by and enjoy a Bayou or Veggie Banh Mi, one of their delicious homemade soups or their Barq's Root Beer Braised Cochon de Lait......yummy!!

It's gonna be a beautiful evening to hang out at the The Columns (3811 St. Charles Ave.)...Have a hot toddy and listen to the guitar stylings of John Rankin at 8:00 pm!
There's some fun on Frenchmen tonight over at d.b.a. (618 Frenchmen) with the Treme Brass Band at 9:00 pm - there's a $5 cover, but this show is definitely worth the dinero!
Right down the street the Spotted Cat (623 Frenchmen) has a triple header with no cover - Brett Richardson at 4:00 pm, Smokin' Time Jazz Club at 6:00 pm and top off the evening with Meschiya Lake & The Little Big Horns at 10:00 pm!
Celebrate the holidays over at the Allways Lounge (2240 St. Claude) with the All-Star Covered-Dish Country Jamboree starting at 9:00 pm. It's local Honky-Tonk Legends, The Wasted Lives, bringing you up when yer feelin those low-down country blues! Bring a dish to pass around - See you there!
End your night over at the Maple Leaf Bar on Oak Street...with the REBIRTH Brass Band they come on around 10:30ish - there's a cover, but you'll be glad you paid and stayed up late!!
