Happy Wednesday with Fun at the Point, A Market, Opera and Good Stuff All Over Town!

Concert Time!

The Wednesdays on the Point concert series continues in Algiers and runs through July 17th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., and of course, admission is FREE...Tonight head to the Algiers Ferry Dock (200 Morgan St.) for Flowtribe plus Melomania - remember you can take the ferry over for free - it's a beautiful ride across the river!  Click the above link for complete concert series info!

Market Fun!

Head on over to Lakeview and the Harrison Avenue Marketplace presented by Beacon of Hope tonight from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm in the parking lot of Lakeview Grocery at 801 Harrison Avenue.  You'll enjoy music by Center Stage and there will be 75 arts, crafts and food vendors!  Grace Evangelical Church will be there with great activities for the little ones. You can enjoy the famous char-grilled oysters from Drago's or Baked Alaska from Antoine's. Stop by the Beacon Beverage booth to enjoy a refreshing libation from an array of thirst quenchers. Try the Velvet Cactus Margarita-frozen or on the rocks!

Opera!

Come join the "sensatiable" singing trio, Bon Operatit!, for a free evening of operatic and musical theater hits from the big screen at the Four Points Sheraton (541 Bourbon)in the Puccini Bar from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.  The fun and vivacious Bon Operatit! will be celebrating "Verdi and Vino": A Night of Italian Opera! So bring your friends and family to the Four Points Sheraton. Four Points Sheraton has a special valet parking rate of $5 during the concert when you mention the event.


Wednesday Evening Music

While you're on Frenchmen Street check out all the music up and down the street!!

There's great music this evening on Frenchmen Street tonight at d.b.a.  (618 Frenchmen) - with an early and a late show.  Come check out The Tin Men at 7:00 pm with no cover - And then it's Walter "Wolfman" Washington and the Roadmasters at 10:00 pm - cover's only $5.00 and you know the Wolfman's worth it!

The Spotted Cat (623 Frenchmen) has an afternoon and evening filled with music!!  Ben Polcer at 4:00, The Orleans 6 at 6:00 pm and top off the night with St. Louis Jim & The Frenchmen St. Jug Band!

Have fun in Mid-City when you head on over to Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) for Arsene DeLay Tom McDermott at 8:00 p.m. And be sure to come hungry for your sammich!!

And there's more fun in Mid-City over at the Banks Street Bar (4401 Banks)! Come on out for "The Grammy nominated Blues" of the one and only Major Bacon and some FREE BLTs - tonight at 10:00 pm...you can never get enough of the bacon and no cover!!

Looking for some dinner and then some music for dessert?  Rock 'N Bowl (3016 S. Carrollton) can help you out!  Get an entree' over at Ye Olde College Inn and then get a half price ticket to the show right next door at Rock N' Bowl.....Get on your dancing shoes for the The Creole String Beans tonight at 8:30 pm!!

Thursday Fun with Paul Sanchez, John Boutte', Some Blues and String Beans!

It's a lovely Thursday!

It's a beautiful night to hang out at City Park and enjoy New Leviathan Oriental Fox Trot Orchestra for the Twilight Garden Concert Series!  The gates open up at 5:00 pm and the performance starts at 6:00 pm in the City Park Botanical Garden Pavilion of the Two Sisters...There is an admission charge, but hey, it's helping the Park out...$10 for adults and $3 for children.

Need a little art, culture and music? You gotta go to the show at the Ogden Southern Museum of Art (925 Camp St.) - better known as Ogden after Hours. Tonight the Ogden has John Boutte'.  John has recorded three albums, "Through the Eyes of a Child," "Scotch and Soda," and "Jambalaya." The theme song for the HBO television series "Treme" is Boutté's "Treme song" off of his "Jambalaya" album (2003).  Boutté has also participated in several episodes of "Treme."  This show coincides with the exhibition Well-Suited: The Costumes of Alonzo Wilson for HBO's Treme, currently on view at the Museum.   Be sure to head on over to the bar for this month's signature drink - The Irish O-Ale - *Remember with your Ogden membership all of these excellent concerts are FREE!!! And....my hubby Bill deTurk will be doing the interview today - so you definitely don't want to miss it!

Some More Thursday Night Music

There's lots of fun going on over at Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) tonight!  It's The Creole String Beans - tonight about 8! And come early for Big Daddy O and the Voodoo Blues Krewe monthly meeting. Get you some BLUES!!!!

And head on over to Frenchmen and the Spotted Cat Music Club (623 Frenchmen) cause they have a triple header with Sarah McCoy's Oopsie Daisies at 4:00 pm, Miss Sophie Lee at 6:00 and stay on and party with Jumbo Shrimp at 10:00 PM!!

Head on over to Frenchmen Street for a double header of music at d.b.a. (618 Frenchmen) - They've got an early show with the The Tin Men at 7:00 pm, and be sure to stay on for Walter "Wolfman" Washington at 10:00 pm - there's a $5 cover, but you know the Wolfman is worth it!

Have fun in Mid-City when you head on over to Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) for some happy hour drinks and stay on for Tom McDermott with Debbie Davis at 7:00 - it's a great evening of music!
