Wednesdays on the Point!

Good Morning Everybody,

Just cause Wednesdays at the Square is over doesn't mean the music is going to stop...No way!

Starting today Wednesdays on the Point 2010 Summer festival concert series begins and runs through September 1st from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., and of course, admission is FREE...Tonight head to the Algiers Ferry Dock (200Morgan St.) for Big Sam's Funky Nation and celebrate tonight's theme...School's Out for the Summer!  Click the above link for complete concert series info!

Been pondering about exercising, but just can't seem to get in the groove...well tonight might be your night to get started with Sunset Swirl... Sip, Shop, Savor and Socialize!  This FREE event is sponsored by Moises Wines, NOLA Pilates and Aimee Gowland Stylist...the event runs from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Nola Pilates (6268 Vicksburg St.) in Lakeview...it's time to get fit!

If you're looking for some culture this evening  there's quite a few FREE events going on at the New Orleans Museum of Art this evening....From 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. head down for the Statuesque New Orleans book signing with author Ashley Merlin.  Ms. Merlin presents a one-of-a-kind photographic guide to the statues of New Orleans. Meet Ms. Merlin during an exclusive book signing opportunity in NOMA's Museum Shop.  From 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. there's Tai Chi and Chi Kung.....Every Wednesday, East Jefferson Wellness Center instructor Terry Rappold leads tai chi in various art galleries at NOMA.  Classes are $5 and FREE for NOMA Members and East Jefferson Wellness Center Members.  And last but not least starting up at 6:00 p.m. you've got the Beyond The Blues Exhibition Walk-Through.  Join Museum educators and docents for a guided tour of the Beyond the Blues exhibition. This walk-through will take place each week throughout the duration of the exhibition.  Meet at the information desk in the Great Hall.  This event is FREE and open to the public!

And of course you got music!

Chickie Wah Wah on Canal has the Louisiana/Tex/Mex sounds of the Iguanas tonight at 8:00 pm. 

You can head on down to the Candlelight Lounge (925 N. Robertson) for the Treme Brass Band at 9:00 pm.

You'll be dancing at d.b.a. tonight with the always fun Washboard Chaz Blues Trio for the early show at 7:00 pm (no cover)!  And hang out for Walter Wolfman Washington...he comes on at 10:00 pm.

And if you're looking for a honky tonk sound...be sure to head on over to Mimi's in the Marigny tonight for Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Review at 10:00 pm...they always put on a fun show!
