It Must be Thursday..Oysters, Wine and Music!

Good Morning Everybody,

Here's the Thursday fun stuff going on today!!

Thursday Events

In Search of the Best Wine Pairing for the Gulf Coast Oyster this afternoon??  Then you gotta go to the Wine and Oyster Pairing Competition at the Bourbon House  (144 Bourbon) from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.   Now more than ever our thoughts are with Louisiana seafood. Over the last five years, our oysters have faced many challenges. But the good news is they're available, delicious and safe. The weekend of June 5th, the city is celebrating the Gulf Coast Oyster at the first annual "New Orleans Oyster Festival."  As a prelude to the weekend, oyster enthusiasts will gather at Bourbon House to determine the best wine pairing for the Gulf Oyster! There will be two award categories: People's Choice and Experts' Choice.  The cost of the event is $10 and includes a half dozen oysters with the wine tastings...What a deal!!!

Looking for some free wine to taste??   Stop by Cork and Bottle around 5:00 pm in Mid-City, and be sure to stop by the Crescent City Farmer's Market and patronize local Louisiana vendors with fresh veggies, seafood and more!

Need more wine??  Then you need to stop by Partysist (200 Metairie Road) between 6:00 and 8:00 pm for THE PROJECT:  A collaboration founded in 2008 between Food & Wine Magazine 2009 Winemaker of the year, Charles Smith (K Vintners, Charles Smith Wines) and Charles Bieler (Three Thieves, BIELER Pere et Fils, Sombra mezcal). The label is an abstract play on the American Flag done by the well loved and historic Nashville, TN poster shop, Hatch Show Print.  Taste a sampling of the 2009 rose' and the 2007 cab with Dave from Artisan Fine Wines.

Need a little culture and music and cocktails? You gotta go to the show at the Ogden Southern Museum of Art better known as Ogden after Hours.  The concert starts up at 6:00 pm. with Jake Smith....so come on down for some music, culture and fun! (remember if you get down there early - go grab a cocktail at the Circle Bar on Lee's Circle...one of the best happy hours in town!)

Go hang out at City Park this evening for The Thursdays at Twilight Garden Concert Series with Musica de Camera! The gates open up at 5:00 pm and the performance starts at 6:00 pm in the City Park Botanical Garden Pavilion of the Two Sisters...There is an admission charge, but hey, it's helping the Park out..so....it's a good thing...$8 for adults and $3 for children.

Have you heard of Camo Fest....well if yes, or if no...be sure to head down to the Bridge Lounge (1201 Magazine) from 6:00 to 8:30 pm for the first ever Camo Exchange!  It's a great opportunity to learn about two different new organizations. Stop by on your way home or on your way out.  Girls on the Run is starting up in New Orleans. Come meet the organizers and throw five bucks in the bucket.  The Camo Fest Krewe will also be on hand to spread the word about Camo Fest Three on June 12th. Bring your leftover camouflage to sell, giveaway donate or exchange. You may even get a surprise that helps you out at Camo Fest.

Come on down this evening to the Maison Frenchmen on Frenchmen Street (of course) tonight at 7:00 pm for the Grill Out Chill Out!  Bar patrons can load up on loads of yummy grilled meats, veggies and who knows what else.....be sure and stay on for the Abney Effect at 9:00 pm.
