More Oysters Please!!

Good Morning Everybody,

Yesterday, turned out to be quite nice, and hope you got to do many fun things in our fair City.

Here's what's happenin' today........

It's the second day for the first annual New Orleans Oyster Festival with great Louisiana music, a cultural oyster tent, the finest local cuisine, and competitions for oyster shucking and the largest oyster. The "Acme Oyster House, World Oyster Eating Competition" will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the revered New Orleans institution. Weekend performances on the Event's Stage include the James Andrews Band, Mustang Sally, and closing out the day Cowboy Mouth.  Be sure to click on the above link for complete details!

For you folks on the Northshore...it's the 2nd Annual Gospel Music Jubilee with the Zion Harmonizer +Ron Snow & the French Market All-Stars at the Abita Trailhead.  The Music will begin at 1:00 pm and go on until 7:00 pm...This would be a lovely day for a trip across the Causeway!

For all you history buffs.....I'm sure you know this weekend is the anniversary of D-Day...and it's D-Day and the 10th Anniversary of the WWII Museum.  If you haven't taken the time to check this museum today would be the day....with all kinds of activities going on, from kids activities, PT Boat tours, the Living History Corps, and be sure to see the amazing 4-D movie "Beyond all Boundaries" while your visiting....for a complete list of events going on today!

Don't forget it's the second day at Back to the Beach (where Williams meets the Lake)...There's gonna be more food, fun and music today...check out today's line-up!  Gates open at 10:00 and Booby Cure & the Summertime Blues starts things up at 11:45, The Wiseguys at 1:30, The Huey Lewis Experience at 3:25, The Boogie Men at 5:20 and to close out The Topcats at 7:15...Go out and support our Lake and our Coast!!

Later this evening there will be a Second Line and Procession for Jane Allen Sessions today at 6:00 pm....Gary Reiger's companion, Jane Allen Sessions, recently passed away. Gary is the drummer for the Danny Alexander Blues Band and he is having a second line/jazz funeral memorial for Jane.  The procession will begin at Grit's Bar (Lyons & Annunication in New Orleans). Bring, your umbrella, 2nd line rag, tambourine, etc......Jane Allen Sessions (January 8, 1953 - May 2, 2010) Jane was a wonderful lady and made a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her time in this world was short, but she will not be forgotten.
