TGIF on Frenchmen!

Good Morning Everybody,

It's been a crazy week...and I hope you're ready for the weekend!

You can get your evening started off right with a little wine tasting at Swirl (3143 Ponce de Leon) with the Friday Free for All from 6 to 8:00 pm.  Gabe Daigle of Select Wines is bringing Winemaker Rich Hartneberger from Midnight Cellars Winery to the shop for a tasting and bottle signing.  Rich will be pouring a lineup of great Paso Robles Reds while Gabe pours some fun and refreshing whites. And as he is each and every Friday, Chef Dan Esses will be dishing out his delicious tapas plates for $5...

If you're headed to the Quarter you don't want to miss Concerts in the Courtyard with Wanda Rouzan at the Historic New Orleans Collection (533 Royal St.)...Now in its third year, Concerts in the Courtyard offer budget-friendly opportunities to enjoy a favorite New Orleans artist and cocktail in a beautiful courtyard setting.  The spring series, sponsored by AOS, concludes on June 18 with music by Wanda Rouzan and cocktails by Firefly Sweet Tea. 6-8 p.m. Admission is $10 and free for THNOC members!!

Come see Bon Operatit! entertain at the site of one of America's first opera houses the singing kicks up at 7:00 pm.  The Inn On Bourbon, on the corner of Toulouse and Bourbon Streets, rests on the site of the French Opera House which stood for 60 years as the cultural center of New Orleans Creole society, and the first opera house in the United States. The fun and vivacious Bon Operatit! is sure to have you singing along to some of your favorite opera and musical theater hits as they perform a FREE concert at the hotel’s Puccini Bar. Valet parking is being offered at the hotel at a special $5.00 rate for those attending the event.

And since you're already hanging in the Quarter...gettin' your Hurricane on (or Rainbow drink...your choice)...you need to head on down to Frenchmen Street for some live local music!

You can get started early at the Spotted Cat (623 Frenchmen) with Ben Polcer at 4:00 pm, Washboard Chaz Blues Trio at 6:30 pm, and Cottonmouth Kings at 9:30 pm.

Right down the street you have another trio of shows at BMC (1331 Decatur)...with Sasha Masakowski at 7:00 pm, Fredy Omar con su Banda at 10:30 pm, We Are 1 Brass Band at 1:00 am...(hey, now it's Saturday mornin'!)

d.b.a.'s (618 Frenchmen) got the Hot Club Of New Orleans at 6:00 and stay on for The Dead Kenny G's 10:00 pm...You have to appreciate a band called the Dead Kenny G's..yes?

Head on down to the Maison (508 Frenchmen) at 7:30 for Some Like it Hot...and you'll appreciate the great drinks and the NO COVER!

And for those of you hanging out Uptown don't forget it's Free Fridays at Tipitina's (504 Napoleon Ave.) with DJ Gysyphonic + Good Enough for Good Times (Rob Mercurio, Jeff Raines, Joe Ashlar & Simon Lott)...show starts up about 10ish...it's gonna be good one!

  2. Just something further on the Cottonmouth Kings at the Spotted Cat -- If you are new to the scene and not sure about them, they are about 6/7 of the old Jazz Vipers. Enjoy!
