Time to Protest...Down with BP!!

Good Morning Everybody!  Hope you're having a great weekend so far....If you missed Holla at the Gulf last night you missed an amazing show...with Dr. John, James Andrews and Walter Wolfman Washington...Much fun was had by all...Thanks Broussards, putting on this amazing benefit!!!

Now on to Sunday's events....Please get out there and show BP how we really feel about them, and make your voice be heard!!!

Starting off with a Jazz Funeral for Joan of Arc....starting off at 12:30 at the front of the Joan of Arc Statue (of course) in the French Market.....Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake 579 years ago this Sunday, and the Krewe of Jeanne d'Arc wants to honor her in New Orleans fashion with a jazz funeral.  In addition to honoring her sainthood, the Krewe will ask for Joan to intercede on the Gulf Coast's behalf in light of the BP oil spill...Come down and show your support!!

And if you're already in the Quarter you're not too far from the big protest today at Jackson Square...The BP Oil Flood Protest kicks off at 1:00 pm at Jackson Square!!!  Demand the Federal Government and BP devote all possible and available resources to stopping the continued outpouring of crude oil into our waters of the Gulf of Mexico NOW!!!!!  For more info contact bpoilflood@gmail.com.

After you've shown BP where you really want them to go.....(and that's no place nice)....Support our local festivals with the the third day of the fabulous Greek Fest (on the corner of Robert E. Lee and St. Bernard) with this year's Greece on the Bayou...Went there last night, and there is plenty of food, music, dancing and crafts!  Make sure you stock up on some ouzo - OPA!!

And if you're looking for a great little road trip...(it's really not that far)...You've got to go to the Plaquemines Parish Seafood Festival, and support Louisiana's local fisherman...There's gonna be delicious food (of course), music, crafts and more!!  Click on the link for more details...but the fun gets going tonight and lasts all weekend long!  Today's events round out with a great concert by the Honey Island Swamp Band starting up at 6:00 pm so don't miss it!

If you're looking enough not to have to work tomorrow...be sure to check out the WWOZ Livewire for more fun stuff going on tonight!!  I know for sure, the Mother in Law Lounge is having quite the get together with BBQ and fun...so you should head on down early this evening!

And tomorrow don't forget why we have off of work tomorrow, and remember those men and women who fought for our freedoms...including the freedom to protest those horrible, rancid BP oil guys........Have a great day ya'll.
