There's a great musical evening on the Avenue at the The Columns (3811 St. Charles Ave.) at 8:00 p.m. tonight!  Have a fancy cocktail and listen to the duo of guitar man - John Rankin and bass guy - Jesse Boyd!

Head on over to Mid-City and to Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) for some piano playing with a solo performance with the one and only Jon Cleary at 8:00 pm - and come hungry for a Sammich!

There's some fun on Frenchmen tonight too over at d.b.a. (618 Frenchmen) with the The Treme Brass Band at 10:00 pm - there's a $5 cover for the show - but you know you don't want to miss it!

Right down the street the Spotted Cat (623 Frenchmen) has a triple header with no cover - Andy Forest at 4:00 pm, Linnzi Zaorski at 6:00 pm, and top off the evening with the Shotgun Jazz Band  at 10:00 pm!

Quarter Festin'!

Festival season ain't over yet!  We got two big events in the Quarter this weekend! It's Cajun - Zydeco Fest at the The Old U.S. Mint (400 Esplanade) - Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 am to 7:00 pm - Admission is free!

COOL! INTERVIEW STAGE
The National Park Service and the Louisiana State Museum are providing access to the beautiful new theater on the Third Floor of the Old U.S. Mint - where the Jazz and Heritage folks will present interviews with many of the performers. Audience members will hear first-hand how our artists learned their craft and carry on our culture. And it'll be a great place to get out of the heat and enjoy some cool air before heading back out for more dancing, eating and shopping. Interviews will be from noon to 5 p.m. both days of the festival.

Saturday Night Fun in the Bywater

Swing by Mickey Markey Park for the start of the The Fourth Annual World Naked Bike Ride in New Orleans will take place today. The ride will start at 5:00pm from Mickey Markey Park (Piety and Royal Street)The riders will travel through the French Quarter passing Jackson Square and return to the park by way of Bourbon St. There will be an after party at the Country Club on Louisa St. Ride naked!

Party with Mr. Okra tonight at BJ's Lounge (4301 Burgundy St.). It's traveling produce man, Mr. Okra's, 70th birthday and the fun begins at 6:00 pm with music by Guitar Slim and delicious food from Sergio and family! Come wish him a happy day, and check out his veggie truck - if you've never seen it, you're truly missing a piece of rolling art!

Happy Thursday with Twilight Garden Concerts, Ogden After Hours and Jazz in the Park!

It's a beautiful night to hang out at City Park and enjoy Paul Soniat for the Twilight Garden Concert Series! The Garden's own, singer/songwriter Paul Soniat will perform his original songs, which always entertain and engage the audience. He is sure to have some new songs, so grab your mint julep and get ready for an enjoyable evening. The gates open up at 5:00 pm and the performance starts at 6:00 pm in the City Park Botanical Garden Pavilion of the Two Sisters...There is an admission charge, but hey, it's helping the Park out...$10 for adults and $3 for children.

Need a little art, culture and music? You gotta go to the show at the Ogden Southern Museum of Art (925 Camp St.) - better known as Ogden after Hours. Tonight the Ogden has Marc Stone with Joshua Paxton.  Marc is known for his red-hot Delta blues and mastery of the steel resonator, electric and lap steel guitars. As a producer, bandleader, or guitarist, he's worked with countless major roots music artists, including Eddie Bo, Betty Harris, the Campbell Brothers, Marva Wright, C.J. Chenier, Walter "Wolfman" Washington, Anders Osborne, Anthony "Tuba Fats" Lacen, John Boutte, Papa John Gros, Harry "Big Daddy" Hypolite, Theresa Andersson and many others.
