The Garden's own, singer/songwriter Paul Soniat will perform his original songs, which always entertain and engage the audience. Tonight the Ogden has Marc Stone with Joshua Paxton.  Marc is known for his red-hot Delta blues and mastery of the steel resonator, electric and lap steel guitars. As a producer, bandleader, or guitarist, he's worked with countless major roots music artists, including Eddie Bo, Betty Harris, the Campbell Brothers, Marva Wright, C.J. Chenier, Walter "Wolfman" Washington, Anders Osborne, Anthony "Tuba Fats" Lacen, John Boutte, Papa John Gros, Harry "Big Daddy" Hypolite, Theresa Andersson and many others.

Since relocating to New Orleans in 2004, he has contributed his talent on the saxophone to numerous major label and local recordings including Eric Lindell's Gulf Coast Highway, Walter “Wolfman” Washington’s Doin’ The Funky Thing, and Honey Island Swamp Band's Wishing Well. A Very Giving Thursday with Jazz, Drinks for Pups, Dinner for NYC, Ladyfest & O Fun!

Happy Thursday - so much to do!

The fall installment of Jazz in the Park concludes this afternoon (into evening) with a special concert from 3 to 8 p.m.  Presented in Armstrong Park, Don't Stop the Music will feature performances by Irma Thomas, Kermit Ruffins, George Porter, Jr., James Andrews, Bill Summers, Michael Baptiste, Renard Poche, Zulu Connection, MyNameIsJohnMichael and more. Tickets for this amazing line-up are only $20.

Join the Humane Society of Louisiana for a Yappy Hour from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Le Bon Temps Roule' (4801 Magazine). There is no charge for admission, but raffles, a silent auction and drink specials will benefit the Society. (Monetary gifts or donations of cat or dog food or other animal care supplies are always appreciated, of course!) Come help raise needed funds for the animal victims of hurricane Isaac. Proceeds from this event will specifically help pay veterinary costs for Isaac, a dog who was rescued with third degree burns on his back. He has recovered from his ordeal and is now available for adoption. So have some fun and help out too!

After Yappy Hour fun, have some dinner for a great cause! Three Muses (536 Frenchmen) in the Marigny is showing their support by running a Weekly Fundraiser throughout November to support City Harvest of NYC. Each Thursday in November (minus Thanksgiving), Three Muses will be running a special menu where they will kindly donate 100% of their proceeds to City Harvest of NYC. The special menu for this fundraiser was crafted by Three Muses Executive Chef, Daniel Esses, and represents his childhood growing up in New York City. The Ceremony for Gede takes place at 7 p.m. in Rosalie Alley, off of Rampart, between Piety and Desire. Followed by a pot luck supper & procession to the cemetery to feed the Dead. And there's more wine!! Come to Tastings at the Track and celebrate a "Wine Tasting...European Connections: Great Wines from Europe"! The reception-style tasting will feature more than 35 fine red, white, rosé and sparkling wines made in the USA.  Held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the clubhouse at Fair Grounds Race Course and Slots (1751 Gentilly Blvd.), the spirited sampling is sponsored by Dorignac's. Wine experts are on hand to answer all of your wine questions, and there will be gourmet cheeses to compliment the wines. Cost to attend is $25 per person. Tickets are sold at Dorignac's or at the door. Don't miss it!

Jazz in the Park Free Concert Series kicks off this evening in Armstrong Park! PUfAP is proud to present the 2012 second season of Jazz in the Park, inside of the historic Louis Armstrong Park. The events are FREE, begins today and runs from 5:00 to 8:00 pm for seven Thursdays until November 1st featuring a Marketplace that provides an opportunity to purchase fresh food, produce and craft market available to the public from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Go hang out at City Park this evening and enjoy music from New Orleans Ragtime Orchestra with Lionel Ferbos for the Thursdays at Twilight Garden Concert Series! The ragtime era was an exciting time when previously unheard of privileges and pleasures were exercised, like dancing in public cheek to cheek. The New Orleans Ragtime Orchestra will transport you back to those days of ragtime music, along with stirring marches, joyous cakewalks, sultry blues, and elegant waltzes. Don't miss it! Tonight the Ogden presents Billy Iuso -"Don't miss the opportunity to be inspired" is Billy Iuso's mission. Three decades after honing his skills, he is widely known for his funk-driven jam sound with Brides of Jesus and The Restless Natives! Tonight the O BAR's specialty drink is Lemonade with a Twist -- Celebrate the last hot days of summer weather with this refreshing mix of lemonade and mango juices with vodka.

Her original music, which she composes, arranges, and produces herself, is a mix of rootsy folk, pop and forward-looking contemporary soul, influenced by her own travels and experiences as well as the deep musical heritage of New Orleans, her adopted home.
