Havin' Fun on Hump Day with Some Funk, Opera, a Market and All Kinds of Music Around Town!

It's a beautiful Wednesday, and there's plenty of good stuff going on around town!

Concert Time!

Wednesday at the Square is rolling along - So come on down to Lafayette Square for another stellar line-up for this year's concert series....there will be crafts, food and libations....Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk + Mahayla get things movin' this evening at 5:00 pm - and check out the entire line-up so you can make your plans.

Market Fun!

Head on over to Lakeview and the Harrison Avenue Marketplace presented by Beacon of Hope tonight from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm in the parking lot of Lakeview Grocery at 801 Harrison Avenue.  You'll enjoy music by The Refugeze and there will be 75 arts, crafts and food vendors!  Grace Evangelical Church will be there with great activities for the little ones. You can enjoy the famous char-grilled oysters from Drago's or Baked Alaska from Antoine's. Stop by the Beacon Beverage booth to enjoy a refreshing libation from an array of thirst quenchers. Try the Velvet Cactus Margarita-frozen or on the rocks!

Opera!

Come join the "sensatiable" singing trio, Bon Operatit!, and The New Orleans Film Society for a free evening of operatic and musical theater hits from the big screen at the Four Points Sheraton (541 Bourbon)in the Puccini Bar from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.  The fun and vivacious Bon Operatit! will be singing a variety of songs from movies such as Moulin Rouge, Shawshank Redemption, West Side Story, Phantom of the Opera, The Sound of Music, Carousel, Oklahoma, Wizard of Oz and more! So bring your friends and family to the Four Points Sheraton. Four Points Sheraton has a special valet parking rate of $5 during the concert when you mention the event.

Wednesday Evening Music

Have fun in Mid-City when you head on over to Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) for Meschiya Lake & Tom McDermott at 8:00 p.m. And be sure to come hungry for your sammich!!

And there's more fun in Mid-City over at the Banks Street Bar (4401 Banks)! Come on out for Major Bacon and some FREE BLTs - tonight at 10:00 pm...you can never get enough of the bacon and no cover!!

Looking for some dinner and then some music for dessert?  Rock 'N Bowl (3016 S. Carrollton) can help you out!  Get an entree' over at Ye Olde College Inn and then get a half price ticket to the show right next door at Rock N' Bowl....It's piano man Joe Krown tonight at 8:30 pm!!

Heading over to Frenchmen Street?  Lots of places with no cover, but don't forget to tip the talent!!

There's great music this evening on Frenchmen Street tonight at d.b.a.  (618 Frenchmen) - with an early and a late show.  Come check out The Tin Men at 7:00 pm with no cover - And then it's Walter "Wolfman" Washington and the Roadmasters at 10:00 pm - cover's only $5.00 and you know the Wolfman's worth it!

The Spotted Cat (623 Frenchmen) has an afternoon and evening filled with music!!  Ben Polcer at 4:00, The Orleans 6 at 6:00 pm and top off the night with St. Louis Jim & The Frenchmen St. Jug Band!
