Go hang out at City Park this evening and enjoy some Hot Stuff for the Thursdays at Twilight Garden Concert Series! Singer/comedienne Becky Allen, funnyman/singer Chris Wecklein and musician/puppeteer Harry Mayronne have revived this popular act, which has run off and on at various venues over the past 20 years or so, and it is a rollicking good time once again. The gates open up at 5:00 pm and the performance starts at 6:00 pm in the City Park Botanical Garden Pavilion of the Two Sisters...There is an admission charge, but hey, it's helping the Park out...$10 for adults and $3 for children (it was $3 last year :)
Need a little art, culture and music? You gotta go to the show at the Ogden Southern Museum of Art (925 Camp St.) - better known as Ogden after Hours. Tonight the Ogden has the super talented Lauren Turner. Lauren is a powerhouse vocalist who sings from the heart. By age 8, she was performing songs by Tanya Tucker, Patsy Cline and Judy Garland, and made a name for herself singing regularly at church, being called the "little girl with the big voice." Lauren was also a finalist on season 4 of "American Idol." And my hubby, Bill deTurk will be doing the interview - so, it's gonna be an extra good evening! Be sure to head on over to the bar for this month's signature cocktail the - The Blarney Stone: A combination of Jameson Irish Whiskey and other flavors will definitely give you the gift of gab! Remember if you're a member of the Ogden you always get in free!

Emeril’s Restaurants Serve Up Culinary Student’s Signature Dish to Make a Change
Not that you need an excuse, but here's another great reason to head over to Emeril's for an amazing meal! The Emeril Lagasse Foundation recently announced it's winner from the recipe contest "Dish that makes a Difference". Culinary arts student, JaneĆ© Taylor was crowned the winner with her exquisite dish "Louisiana Surf and Turf" with grilled rib eye, seafood mashed potatoes and Cajun crab boiled asparagus. If your mouth is watering, no problem. You can sample the award winning meal for yourself at Emeril’s restaurants in New Orleans, Orlando and Las Vegas; $5 from each dish sold will be donated to Emeril Lagasse Foundation to support the culinary arts.

For the recipe contest, Emeril challenged NOCCA’s culinary arts students to compose an original, seasonal dish showcasing New Orleans’ signature cuisine. Supporters from across the country were invited to vote online for their favorite recipe – and over 6,000 voters selected the winner featured on the menu and served in Emeril's restaurants. The recipe contest and charitable promotion is part of FOOD & WINE magazine's “Chefs Make Change” campaign, a coalition of 10 star chef-philanthropists working to create new opportunities in their communities through the power and possibility of food.
*Since 2007, Emeril has helped establish a high school Culinary Arts program at NOCCA that has mentored aspiring students from across south Louisiana. Emeril Lagasse Foundation has granted over $700,000 to create a state-of-the-art professional quality teaching kitchen, develop curriculum and grow this first-of-its-kind educational program. For more information on the program check out - Emeril.org

Be sure to head on over to the bar for this month's signature cocktail the - The Blarney Stone: A combination of Jameson Irish Whiskey and other flavors will definitely give you the gift of gab! Remember if you're a member of the Ogden you always get in free!
If you get there a little early head by the Circle Bar right around the corner on Lee's Circle for some great drinks!! And stop by after the Ogden too for Washboard Rodeo at 10:00 pm!
