All Weekend Long!

That's amore' all weekend long at Festa Italiana - The Italian Heritage Festival in Rivertown (400 block of Williams Blvd., Kenner) from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.
The family-friendly event features live music, Italian cuisine, dancing, rides, arts and crafts, a 2-mile run on the levee at sunset and other activities. Admission $5, free for children 12 and younger. For more info about this fun event click here.

Friday and Saturday!

Get your Bach on Friday and Saturday from 7:00 pm Friday 'til midnight Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church (1329 Jackson Ave.). It's Bach Around the Clock, Trinity Artist Series' annual celebration of German composer Johann Sebastian Bach's birthday (March 31, 1685). There's 29 continuous hours of music including baroque, classical, jazz and rock. Albinas Prizgintas performs works by Bach and others on organ and harpsichord, and the rest of the lineup includes Delfeayo Marsalis and the Uptown Jazz Orchestra, cellist Helen Gillet, classical pianists including Xavier University's Wilfred Delphin, saxophonist Tony Dagradi, guitarist John Rankin, members of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, the U.S. Navy Band's woodwind quartet and brass quintet, the New Orleans Concert Brass Band and many other bands and individual performers. There's also dance, scenes from Dan Shore's opera Freedom Ride, poetry and more. Free admission.

Saturday Fun!

Come celebrate Freret Street this Saturday from 11:00 to 6:00 pm. The Freret Street Festival is the Kick-off to the Festival Season!

Jammin’ on Julia will be in full swing this Saturday, with music, libations and, of course, art on Julia and Camp Streets in the New Orleans Arts District. Presented by the New Orleans Arts District Association, this year’s event will be more intimate, with many galleries showcasing new exhibitions and local musical talent. The event will go from 6:00 to 9:00 pm and admission is free. So come on down to Julia and Camp Streets for a night of fantastic art and music!

Hickory Dickory Rock, Family Service of Greater New Orleans’ third annual fundraising event, gives thousands of New Orleans children an opportunity to enjoy an evening of unbridled family fun, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Saturday, in New Orleans City Park’s Storyland and Carousel Gardens Amusement Park. Attendees can board an unlimited number of rides in the safe environment of the amusement park for a substantially reduced $10 per person admission price. Musical entertainment is provided by Bag of Donuts. Tickets can be purchased here or at the gate of the Carousel Gardens. Funds raised benefit Family Service, which provides counseling services to low-income individuals and families throughout New Orleans.

Sunday Fun!

And on Sunday City Park goes to the dogs with Dog Day Afternoon! from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm!  Enjoy a day of dog loving activies with a dog walk-a-thon, food, games, dog contests and music by Burgers n Fries.   All funds to to benefit the LA/SPCA!!  Festivities take place at City Park's Big Lake - it's gonna be a doggone good time ya'll!!!

More fun in City Park at the Louisiana Iris Rainbow Festival - Celebrate the arrival of spring this Sunday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm in the beautiful Besthoff Sculpture Garden at the 2013 Louisiana Iris Rainbow Festival. The Sculpture Garden is planted with masses of Louisiana irises and is the site of the GNO Iris Society's Display Garden. GNOIS members and Master Gardeners will be present to answer questions on Louisiana irises. Also come to enjoy music from NOW.HERE.THIS., a jazz trio of Cindy Scott, Helen Gillet, and Bryan Seeger.

Go see a free movie!! It's the NOLAsynchroniCITY Film Series
* The NOLAsynchroniCITY film series features the extraordinary culture of New Orleans and our Louisiana heritage.
* The films will be shown twice at 8pm and 10pm on Sunday nights at Buffa's (1001 Esplanade Ave.).
* The creators will be available for questions in between film showings.
* The series is offered free and open to the public.
