Happy Thursday w/Lots of Wining, Dining and Music!

Good Morning Everybody - and Happy Thursday!

Thursday Events

Don't miss out on the weekly wine tasting at Cork and Bottle (3700 Orleans) about 5:00 pm in Mid-City. Come sample some delicious vinos and kick off your early weekend right! You can also stop at Clever (right next door - don't even have to walk outside) for their happy hour specials after attending the free wine tasting!  And be sure to stop by the Crescent City Farmer's Market (right outside the door) and patronize local Louisiana vendors with fresh veggies, seafood and more!!

And there's more wine!! Come to Tastings at the Track and and celebrate Christmas in July. The reception-style tasting will feature more than 75 French Champagnes and sparkling wines from Italy, the United States and Spain.  Top brands that will be sampled include Dom Perignon, Taittinger, Perrier Jouet, Mumm, Moet & Chandon, Ruinart and many more!! Held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the clubhouse at Fair Grounds Race Course and Slots (1751 Gentilly Blvd.), the spirited sampling is sponsored by Dorignac's. Wine experts are on hand to answer all of your wine questions, and there will be gourmet cheeses to compliment the wines. Cost to attend is $25 per person. Tickets are sold at Dorignac's or at the door. Don't miss it!

Go hang out at City Park this evening and enjoy music from Washboard Rodeo for the Thursdays at Twilight Garden Concert Series! What could be better in the mid summer than good ole Cowboy Swing music? Western Swing developed when practitioners melded fiddles and steel guitars to create their own music inspired by swing, a sort of "Cowboy Jazz". Add a washboard and you have the Washboard Rodeo! Gates open up at 5:00 pm and the performance starts at 6:00 pm in the City Park Botanical Garden Pavilion of the Two Sisters...There is an admission charge, but hey, it's helping the Park out...$10 for adults and $3 for children (it was $3 last year :)

Need a little art, culture and music? You gotta go to the show at the Ogden Southern Museum of Art (925 Camp St.) - better known as Ogden after Hours. Tonight the Ogden presents Mia Borders  Showcasing her distinctive voice, Mia Borders's shows are an energetic blend of funk, soul and rock! Tonight the O BAR's specialty drink is the O Sangria: Say O-lé to this refreshing sangria consisting of white wines, fresh fruit juices and fresh fruit!  And....my hubby Bill deTurk will be doing the interview today - so you definitely don't want to miss it!

I'm sure you're going to be hungry after the wine tasting and music - so go out to eat tonight for a great cause by participating in Dining Out for Life and you'll support the No Aids Task Force just by eating!!  25% of your dining bill will help out the Task Force, and if you choose to donate a little extra - you and your waiter will be entered into a drawing for a great prize.  The event goes on all day - breakfast, lunch and dinner - so go out and eat!!  Click on the link above for a full list of participating restaurants.
