Friday w/Second Line for Uncle Lionel and Lots of Music!

Happy Friday!

Celebrate the life of Uncle Lionel this afternoon with a Second Line to remember and honor his memory and spirit! The second line will start at Tuba Fats Square on the corner of St. Philip and N. Robertson in the Treme, and end at Sweet Lorraine's Jazz Club at 1931 St. Claude. See the route belwo. (We are also Asking All Second Line Clubs to Dress out)


Following the Second Line, there is a benefit at Sweet Lorraine's. Taking the stage to honor the legend will be trumpeters Kermit Ruffins and Kid Merv, singer Michael Baptiste, NOLA R&B mainstay Deacon John, singer Danon Smith and Jazz violinist Michael Ward. The show starts at 7 p.m.

A memorial fund has been set up for Uncle Lionel Batiste at Liberty Bank and Trust. Donations can be made to the fund by going to any branch. If you have any questions please contact Glenda McKinley at 504-915-1552.

Wine Tastings!

Hooray for wine!  It's the weekly wine tasting over at Cork & Bottle (Orleans at Moss St.) - from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.  Come out and sample some fantastic wines and the tasting wines are always 10% off!

And you can double your wine tasting fun in Mid-City! Check out Swirl located on Ponce de Leon right off Esplanade and enjoy a FREE wine tasting at 6:00 pm. 

Night at the Museum!

Check out The Where Y'Art? party this evening over at the New Orleans Museum of Art beginning at 5:00 pm and start your Bastille Day celebration early!  The event is FREE with museum admissions. $10 Adults, $8 seniors, students, active military, $6 children ages 17 to 7, children 6 and under are free.

*5pm to 8pm: Art Making Activity
*5:30pm to 7:30pm: Opera On Tap: Selections & French Opera with The New Orleans Opera Association . Also including selections from The Phantom of the Opera, which took place in the famed Paris Opera House!
*6pm: Book signing with artist, Gustave Blache III and Chef Leah Chase: Leah Chase: Paintings by Gustave Blache III
*7pm: Art You Can Eat: Do It Yourself: Creole Cream Cheese, Mozzarella, & Ricotta: Chris Montero, Executive Chef, cafe b. Special Guest: Chef Leah Chase (Reservations requested)

Get on over to Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) for happy hour with The Pfister Sisters from 5:30 to 7:30! The grandson of another legendary songwriter - Leon Russell! Then stay on for Kevin Gordon -  Show starts at 8!  Be sure to come hungry for delicious pizza and more!

And there's more good music in Mid-City (almost Uptown) over at Rock 'N Bowl (3016 S. Carrollton) with Bonerama at 9:30 pm!! Remember if you eat at Ye Olde College Inn right next door you get a discount to the show! Happy rockin' and bowlin'!

Let the Carousel Lounge in the Monteleone Bar (214 Royal) spin you around with the swinging sounds of Lena Prima at 9:00 pm.  It's a cool place for some fun and fancy cocktails!
