Friday - Saying Farewell to Uncle Lionel w/a Celebration of His Life

Start: Mahalia Jackson Theater. Proceed through Armstrong Park to gate entrance to Basin Street. Right on Basin Street to North Villere St. Right on Villere to St. Philip St. Right on St. Philip St. to St. Claude Street. Left on St. Claude St. to Ursuline Avenue. Left on Ursuline Ave. to N. Robertson Street.

STOP: Joe's Cozy Corner - corner of N. Robertson and Ursulines
STOP: Candlelight Lounge - 925 N. Robertson
STOP: Ernie K-Doe's Mother-in-Law Lounge - 1500 N. Claiborne

Mardi Gras World presents Jammin' On the River - A free series along the riverfront @ Mardi Gras World this summer featuring premier talent from New Orleans artists along with gourmet food trucks, beverage and craft vendors all in a family friendly environment. DJs close out each night as the sun goes down. The series kicks off July 13th with The Boogiemen and Vox And The Hound and ...continues through August 31st with artists including the Grammy Winning Rebirth Brass Band, George Porter Jr., Hot 8 Brass Band, Bag of Donuts and many more. Events start at 5PM.

Cocktails!

It's Canines & Cocktails tonight at Belladoggie (815 Washington Ave.) from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. The resort spa for dogs is hosting a benefit for the nonprofit Dag's House, which provides housing and rehabilitation for special needs dogs, with live music, food and cocktails. Visit www.dagshouse.com for details. Admission for this fun event is only $10!!

Wine Tastings!

Hooray for wine!  It's the weekly wine tasting over at Cork & Bottle (Orleans at Moss St.) - from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.  Come out and sample some fantastic wines and the tasting wines are always 10% off!

And you can double your wine tasting fun in Mid-City! Check out Swirl located on Ponce de Leon right off Esplanade and enjoy a FREE wine tasting at 6:00 pm. 

Night at the Museum!

Check out The Where Y'Art? party this evening over at the New Orleans Museum of Art beginning at 5:00 pm and celebrate the 1950's!  The event is FREE with museum admissions. $10 Adults, $8 seniors, students, active military, $6 children ages 17 to 7, children 6 and under are free.

Get on over to Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) for happy hour with Bluesman Michael Pearce from 5:30 to 7:30!  Then stay on for Brother Tyrone and the Mindebenders - Show starts at 8!  Be sure to come hungry for delicious pizza and more!

And there's more good music in Mid-City (almost Uptown) over at Rock 'N Bowl (3016 S. Carrollton) with 61 South at 9:30 pm!! Remember if you eat at Ye Olde College Inn right next door you get a discount to the show! Happy rockin' and bowlin'!

Let the Carousel Lounge in the Monteleone Bar (214 Royal) spin you around with the swinging sounds of Lena Prima at 9:00 pm.  It's a cool place for some fun and fancy cocktails!

You can get started early at the Spotted Cat (623 Frenchmen) with Ben Polcer at 4:00 pm, Washboard Chaz Jazz Trio at 6:00 pm, and the New Orleans Cottonmouth Kings at 10:00 pm.

d.b.a.'s (618 Frenchmen) got a double header with The Hot Club of New Orleans at 6:00 pm, and stay on for Lightnin' Malcolm at 10:00 pm...there's only a $5 cover!

Top off the evening with a FREE show at 10:00 pm over at Tipitina's (501 Napoleon) it's the Honey Island Swamp Band plus Dave Jordan Band.
