TGIF w/A Book, Beer, Vino, Art and Music!!

A Book and Beer!

Come out to NOLA Brewery (3001 Tchoupitoulas) from 2:00 to 3:30 pm for a tour and free beer tasting. While you're enjoying a lovely brew - Author, Jay Mazza will be signing copies of his newest book, "Up Front and Center: New Orleans Music at the End of the 20th Century."  Books and beer - what could be better!

Wine Tastings!

Hooray for wine!  It's the weekly wine tasting over at Cork & Bottle (Orleans at Moss St.) - from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.  Come out and sample some fantastic wines and the tasting wines are always 10% off!

And you can double your wine tasting fun in Mid-City! Check out Swirl located on Ponce de Leon right off Esplanade and enjoy a FREE wine tasting at 6:00 pm.  Join Beth Kehn from Republic, for the free tasting of 4 wines.  Beth and her husband just bought a house around the  corner,  so come celebrate with some bubbly tonight! Plus, those delicious tapas plates by Chef Papier are on the menu each tonight - yummy!

Night at the Museum!

Check out The Where Y'Art? party this evening over at the New Orleans Museum of Art starting at 5:00 pm with swingin' music, cooking demos, an artist lecture and movie screenings!  The event is FREE with museum admissions. $10 Adults, $8 seniors, students, active military, $6 children ages 17 to 7, children 6 and under are free.

*5pm to 8pm: Art Making Activity with NOMA
*5:30pm to 8:30pm: Music by the Pfister Sisters
*6pm to 8pm: Visiting Pottery Artist in the Museum Shop: Rachael DePauw
*7pm: Screening: Academy Award Winner: The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore (a short documentary on the making of Morris Lessmore will precede the screening.)
*7pm: Art You Can Eat: Summer Grilling & Chilling: Gourmet Rubs, Sauces, and Accompaniment for the ultimate July BBQ: Chip Flanagan, Executive Chef, Ralph’s On The Park (Reservations requested)
*7:45pm: Screening: My Louisiana Love, directed, co-written and co-produced by Sharon Linezo Hong; co-produced and co-written by Monique Michelle Verdin.

More Music!

Get on over to Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) for happy hour with Monty Russel from 5:30 to 7:30! The grandson of another legendary songwriter - Leon Russell! Then stay on for Butch and Rory Hancock -  Butch is a legendary songwriter from Texas and Rory is the next generation - Show starts at 8!  Be sure to come hungry for delicious pizza and more!

And there's more good music in Mid-City (almost Uptown) over at Rock 'N Bowl (3016 S. Carrollton) with Amanda Shaw at 9:30 pm!! Remember if you eat at Ye Olde College Inn right next door you get a discount to the show! Happy rockin' and bowlin'!

There's an all-star show over at Carrollton Station (8140 Willow) at 10:00 pm - Come on out for Jimmy Robinson's CD Release Party featuring Tommy Malone (Radiator), Mark Mullins (Bonerama),  Spencer Bohren, Beth Patterson and more surprise guests - Don't miss this one!

Let the Carousel Lounge in the Monteleone Bar (214 Royal) spin you around with the swinging sounds of Lena Prima at 9:00 pm.  It's a cool place for some fun and fancy cocktails!

You can get started early at the Spotted Cat (623 Frenchmen) with Ben Polcer at 4:00 pm, Washboard Chaz Jazz Trio at 6:00 pm, and the New Orleans Cottonmouth Kings at 10:00 pm.

d.b.a.'s (618 Frenchmen) got a double header with The Hot Club of New Orleans at 6:00 pm, and stay on for Walter "Wolfman" Washington at 10:00 pm...there's only a $5 cover!

Top off the evening with a FREE show at 10:00 pm over at Tipitina's it's Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes plus Gravy!
