Arts, Opera, and Blues!

Good Morning Everybody!

It's the Palmer Park Arts Market today from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 pm....This monthly open air festival of creativity hosted by the Arts Council of New Orleans and it’s Community Appreciation Day (including Country Day Creative Arts Program & Friends of the New Orleans Public Library) at the monthly open air festival of creativity hosted by the Arts Council of New Orleans with local artists, live music, and good food. In the Kids Tent at 10:30 am- Angela the Yarnspinner Craft Project of the Day will be Bookmark Babies. RTA’s 175th birthday party for the St. Charles streetcar in the Music Tent at noon. The Pfister Sisters will perform at 1:00 pm, then The Charmaine Neville Band at 2:30 pm...and of course of lots of art!!

If you're looking for more great music you need to head on down to the Louisiana Music Factory on the 2nd block of Decatur Street for a great triple header of bands!! The Louisiana Hellbenders at 3:00 pm, John Carey & Piano Bob at 4:00 pm and Jenny Dee & The Deelinquents with LaLa Brooks at 5:00 pm.

Looking of a little culture and opera in the great outdoors...then head on over to the L9 at the Triangle located at 4804 Dauphine Street at 3:30 this afternoon.  It's Porgy on the Levee featuring Original Hurricane Brass Band, Community Choirs from the Lower 9th, and the New Orleans Opera singing highlights from “Porgy and Bess”. Sponsored by: New Orleans Opera Association, PRC, Williams Architects, New Orleans Musicians' Clinic, and Classic 9.

And the  New Orleans Voodoo Blues Challenge continues tonight at 7:00pm...The event takes place at the New Orleans Harley Davidson Showroom located at 6015 Airline Drive....The Band line-up includes Major Bacon, Rocky Denny Blues Band, The Soul Blues Players, Lil’ Red and Big Bad, Strange Roux, & Ernie Vincent and the Top Notes!!!!
