It's a beautiful night to hang out at City Park and enjoy James Rivers Movement for the Twilight Garden Concert Series! James Rivers is a New Orleans musical treasure. He plays a mixture of Rock, progressive Jazz, Rhythm and Blues and Gospel; the sort of music that implies something for everybody when it's played. Rivers, one of only three Jazz musicians ever known to play the bagpipes, would probably call himself a saxophonist, but his forte is really an amazing musical dexterity that has helped him master a dozen other instruments. The gates open up at 5:00 pm and the performance starts at 6:00 pm in the City Park Botanical Garden Pavilion of the Two Sisters...There is an admission charge, but hey, it's helping the Park out...$10 for adults and $3 for children.
Need a little art, culture and music? You gotta go to the show at the Ogden Southern Museum of Art (925 Camp St.) - better known as Ogden after Hours. Tonight the Ogden has the IGNATIUS SAXOPHONE QUARTET with Ray Moore, Jason Mingledorff, Rex Gregory and Tony Dagradi. Composed of music faculty members at Loyola University in New Orleans, the Ignatius Saxophone Quartet performs on multiple saxophones and woodwinds. Be sure to head on over to the bar for this month's signature drink - Mint Julep - *Remember with your Ogden membership all of these excellent concerts are FREE!!!
Jazz in the Park Free Concert Series kicks off this evening in Armstrong Park! PUfAP is proud to present the third season of Jazz in the Park, inside of the historic Louis Armstrong Park. The events are FREE, begins today and runs from 5:00 to 8:00 pm through June 13th featuring a Marketplace that provides an opportunity to purchase fresh food, produce and craft market available to the public from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. Enjoy the sweet, sensuous, seductive sounds of The Smoking Time Jazz Club, New Orleans Classic Jazz and Blues a la Jelly Roll Morton and King Oliver! Gates open up at 5:00 pm and the performance starts at 6:00 pm in the City Park Botanical Garden Pavilion of the Two Sisters...There is an admission charge, but hey, it's helping the Park out...$10 for adults and $3 for children (it was $3 last year :)

The concerts runs from 5 to 7 p.m. and come hungry - there will be food from Café Treme, Wine and Bistro, Jacques-Imo's Café, and more...Fun!! (Ok - I'm getting mixed news - I'm hearing Allen Toussaint is tonight! Guess you'll have to go and find out!)
Need a little art, culture and music? You gotta go to the show at the Ogden Southern Museum of Art (925 Camp St.) - better known as Ogden after Hours. Tonight the Ogden presents Kelcy Mae - Combining traditional Southern bluegrass and country instrumentation with an acoustic independent rock sound, Kelcy Mae hits a pitch-perfect balance! And tonight the O BAR's specialty drink is The Mint Julep - Seersucker, white linen and mint juleps -- summer has arrived. The O Bar will concoct a refreshing julep to rival those served at the Kentucky Derby!!
After all the early concerts, be sure to head on down to Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) for an amazing evening of lovely singers - with the acoustic sounds of the Honeypots at 8:00 pm! To top it off it's the CD Release Party for "Something Sweet"!! Be sure to grab your autographed copy tonight!

Kick off your Jazz Fest Celebration in Central City! This program takes place at Mahalia Jackson Early Childhood Center-2405 Jackson Avenue. Join us at 5:30PM to see the New Hope Baptist Dance Ministry, an LPO concert at 6PM, and a performance by the Creole Wild West Mardi Gras Indians at 7:15. This program is funded through ArtPlace.

Thursday w/the Grand Opening of Jim's and Concerts Everywhere!!
Good Morning Everybody - it's going to be a beautiful Thursday and there's so much to do!

Come celebrate the GRAND OPENING of JIMS sandwich place (3000 Royal) in the Bywater with yummy food and great music from 4:00 to 7:00 pm today! Sample their favorite sandwiches, and they'll be taking photos for the restaurant too! So where your favorite outfit and get your picture on the wall while groovin' to the sounds of Washboard Chaz and St. Louis Slim - Don't miss it!

And be sure to head on over to the bar for this month's signature cocktail the - The Blarney Stone: A combination of Jameson Irish Whiskey and other flavors will definitely give you the gift of gab! Remember if you're a member of the Ogden you always get in free!
