Thursday w/the Grand Opening of Jim's and Concerts Everywhere!!

Good Morning Everybody - it's going to be a beautiful Thursday and there's so much to do!

Thursday Events

Come celebrate the GRAND OPENING of JIMS sandwich place (3000 Royal) in the Bywater with yummy food and great music from 4:00 to 7:00 pm today! Sample their favorite sandwiches, and they'll be taking photos for the restaurant too! So where your favorite outfit and get your picture on the wall while groovin' to the sounds of Washboard Chaz and St. Louis Slim - Don't miss it!

Don't miss out on the weekly wine tasting at Cork and Bottle (3700 Orleans) about 5:00 pm in Mid-City. Come sample some delicious vinos and kick off your early weekend right! You can also stop at Clever (right next door - don't even have to walk outside) for their happy hour specials after attending the free wine tasting!  And be sure to stop by the Crescent City Farmer's Market (right outside the door) and patronize local Louisiana vendors with fresh veggies, seafood and more!! 

Go hang out at City Park this evening and enjoy John Boutte for the Thursdays at Twilight Garden Concert Series!  John works with a wonderful amalgam of styles -- from torchy jazz to aching soul and African-American gospel....and his song “Treme” is the theme song of the popular HBO series!!  The gates open up at 5:00 pm and the performance starts at 6:00 pm in the City Park Botanical Garden Pavilion of the Two Sisters...There is an admission charge, but hey, it's helping the Park out...$10 for adults and $3 for children (it was $3 last year :)

Armstrong Park Thursdays continues tonight with Michael Baptist & Glen David Andrews with the Craig Elementary School Band.  Upcoming performances include, Donald Harrison and Troy Sawyer, and Kermit Ruffins. The concerts will run from 5 to 7 p.m. and come hungry - there will be food from Café Treme, Wine and Bistro, Jacques-Imo's Café, and more...Fun!!

The Live at Lafreniere Park Concert Series kicks off tonight at the Park Pavilion with Chubby Carrier at 6:00 pm. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, etc. and enjoy an evening of live music in the Park and best of all it is FREE!!

Need a little art, culture and music? You gotta go to the show at the Ogden Southern Museum of Art (925 Camp St.) - better known as Ogden after Hours. Tonight the Ogden presents Johnny Sansone Johnny has won numerous awards including Offbeat magazine's annual "Best of the Beat Awards," where he won 4 for "Crescent City Moon" in 1997. Sansone won Song of the Year, Best Harmonica Player, Best Blues Band, and Best Blues Album of the Year, and the record received raves reviews through-out the country!  And be sure to head on over to the bar for the O-Enchanted - a spritely concoction of vodka, club soda, rosemary-infused simple syrup and a splash of pear juice!

Navy Week in New Orleans continues all week long - featuring a colorful spectacle of ships spreading on the East Bank of the Mississippi River from Erato Street to Upper Poland Avenue.
