Monday Night Movie and Music!

It's gonna be a great night for a movie. Check out the Musically Speaking Movie Series - "Musically Speaking" is a series of music-themed movies and documentaries, curated and hosted by DJ Soul Sister taking place in every Monday in August at Cafe Istanbul (New Orleans Healing Center - 2372 St. Claude). WWOZ is proud to co-sponsor Musically Speaking on Mondays, curated and co-hosted by Soul Sister, and co-presented by Press Street and the Charitable Film Network. Admission to all films are FREE and refreshments will be served, along with a cash bar.
*Tonight's feature is Wild Style (1983) - Regarded as the first hip hop motion picture, this definitive movie features seminal MCs, DJs, grafitti artists, and b-boys such as Fab Five Freddy, Lee Quinones, Lady Pink, the Rock Steady Crew, The Cold Crush Brothers, Grandmaster Flash, and many more. Voted as one of the top ten rock and roll films of all time by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Monday Night Music

Head on over to The Irish House (1432 St. Charles) for a lovely pint of your favorite brew and a Traditional Irish Music Session at 7:00 pm!

And while your Uptown - Enjoy some cocktail porch sippin' over at the Columns Hotel (3811 St. Charles)....Tonight David Doucet of Beausoleil fame performs at 8:00 pm tonight!

Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) has a great Monday night show with Phil DeGruy at 8:00 pm....and be sure to come hungry for some delicious pizza and other Italian goodness from Garage Pizza!

And there's more good times in the neighborhood at the Banks Street Bar (4401 Banks) come by for The N'awlins Johnnys at 10:00 pm and don't forget about the FREE red beans tonight!

Lots of fun around Frenchmen Street!

BMC (1331 Decatur) has a great early show at 6:00 pm with Lil Red and Big Bad...then stay on for the next show at 9:30 with Smoky Greenwell's Blues Jam!!

Be sure to make a stop by the Spotted Cat (623 Frenchmen) early for this great line-up of music...Sarah McCoy at 4:00 pm, Dominick Grillo and The Frenchmen Street All Stars at 6:00 pm and be sure to stay on for the Kristina Morales and The Bayou Shufflers at 10:00 pm!

And stop into Snug Harbor (626 Frenchmen) for one of the longest running performers in NOLA - It's Monday night with the Charmaine Neville Band at 8:00 pm - Yes, there's a cover, but Charmaine is worth every penny!  While your there get a Monsoon (watch out their dangerous) and one of the best burgers in town!

To top off you're gotta go Uptown and over to the Maple Leaf (8316 Oak) for Papa Grows Funk at 10:00 pm - they'll get your Monday night funked up -remember there's a cover - but it's worth it!!!
