Tuesday w/Farm Fresh Foods, Books & Lots o' Music!

You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!!!  Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm and pick up some fresh seafood, veggies and you can even grab some lunch!  La Divinia Gelateria is fixing up some great food each Tuesday in July at the Market.....on the menu today: Creole tomato gazpacho, summer vegetable quiche, blueberry salad with mixed greens, Ryals goat cheese and toasted hazelnuts, peach prosecco sorbetto, cucumber cachaca sorbetto and fresh squeezed watermelon lemonade.....yummy!!

Join Octavia Books (513 Octavia) tonight at 6:00 pm for a special evening with Keith Spera, music writer at The Times-Picayune, they're celebrating the launch of the book GROOVE INTERRUPTED Loss, Renewal and the Music of New Orleans. Keith will be reading and signing his new book, plus he'll be talking with legendary musician, composer and record producer Allen Toussaint (to whom a whole chapter of the book is devoted and will join Keith in the signing!)  It should be a great evening - you don't want to miss it!

The Trinity Artist Series continues tonight at Trinity Episcopal Church (1329 Jackson Ave.) with "Organ & Labyrinth" with Albinas Prizgintas on the 5000 pipe Trinity tracker organ. The program includes some of the greatest music ever written ranging from Classical Baroque to vintage rock and popular tunes. The concert is from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm and is FREE!

Okay, it may be to late to be the next Stage Door Idol, but you can certainly come on down to The World War II Museum Stage Door Canteen (945 Magazine St.) for the Competition - Who will be the next Stage Door Idol?  Preliminary finals happen tonight from 5:30 to 7:30 pm...It's a 40's themed talent competition.  So watch as area hopefuls vie for the title of the next Stage Door Idol by performing hits of the war years for celebrity judges.  Finalists will compete for an opportunity to headline as part of the Museum's popular Sunday Swing series on August 28.  Tickets are FREE but contact Ginny Clauss for reservations,

More Tuesday Night Fun!

It's Open Mic Night over at the Rusty Nail (1100 Constance) with Whiskey T of Country Fried!  Get on stage, or just check out the local NOLA talent!  The fun starts up at 8:00 pm.

There's a triple header over at the Spotted Cat (623 Frenchmen) starting up at 4:00 pm with Brett Richardson, then stay on for Smokin' Time Jazz Club at 6:00 pm, and finish off the night with Meschiya Lake and Little Big Horns at 10:00 pm!!

End your night over at the Maple Leaf Bar on Oak Street...with  the REBIRTH Brass Band they come on around 10:30ish - you'll be glad you stayed up late!!
