Saturday Satchmo SummerFest, Seafood, Linen and 'OZ Festin!

Happy Saturday and Happy Satchmo SummerFest!

I hope everyone was able to get out and "strut" last night.  What an amazing line-up of musicians!!  We got to catch the Hot Club of New Orleans, Chris Thomas King, Davell Crawford, Shamarr Allen, Allen Toussaint, and Donald Harrison - all in one night!!  Wish we could have cloned ourselves to catch everybody.  If you did miss the strut - no worries - cause there's more Satchmo celebratin' today and tomorrow!!

Get your self down to the Quarter to the corner of Decatur and Esplanade for Satchmo SummerFest today and Sunday!  Satchmo SummerFest has extended its hours from noon to 8 pm and for the first time, fans will enjoy ‘Satchmo in the Shade’ - musical performances under completely tented areas. The new 40-by-80-foot tents will cover stage areas and provide relief from the August heat!!  Check out today's amazing musical line-up:

Looking for some air conditioned fun?  Then get yourself over to the New Orleans Convention Center in Hall J for the Great American Seafood Kick-Off!!  The cooking begins at 11:00 am and goes on all day and winners will be announced at 4:30 pm!  Guests of the cook-off will enjoy some seafood sampling, complimentary water, snacks from Whole Foods and Budweiser Beer (for those guests who are over 21).  Tickets are only $5 for this fun event - so come celebrate with some great seafood!  For more info click on the above link.

And of course tonight is the night for breaking out your fanciest white linen suit or dress for Whitney White Linen night.  Cruise up and down Julia Street from 6:00 to 9:00 pm...and then head on over to the after party at the CAC (900 Camp St.) admission is $10 and free for CAC members... The WWOZ Outreach Krewe will be there with prizes and information on your community radio station.  The show starts at 10:00 pm and doors open at 9:00 pm.
