Monday Fun!

Good Morning Everybody!

Another beautiful Monday and I hope everyone had a fantastic Easter weekend!!  If you're home watching the kiddies, or are lucky enough to have Easter Monday off....Here are a few things you might want to do today.

For those of you who with the day off lookin' for a unique New Orleans experience....Check out Vella Vetro Art Glass at 3000 Royal St on the 2nd Floor. You can come by anytime Monday thru Friday 9 - 3 pm for free glass blowing demonstrations.

If you're going to hang out at City Park to feed the ducks, geese and squirrels (maybe even a raccoon)....be sure to check out the fancy new dog park - NOLA City Bark....and if you have a pup of your own....you can register them for a small fee...also, doggie must be up to date with shots.

Don't forget about Audubon Park...they have just as many ducks and crazy geese out there too who are lookin' for some bunny bread to munch on....(don't think I've ever seen a raccoon though)...And you can always head on over to the Fly (the park behind the zoo) and watch the ships pass by.

Well if you had enough relaxing in the park on this gorgeous day - here are some fun music events for tonight!!

Featured Monday Music

For some FREE red beans and rice and the cool sounds of Amanda Walker....take a walk along the River Road levee this evening and make a stop at the River Shack Tavern...Amanda and the band will be playing at 7:00 pm tonite!  I think I'm heading on over to this one tonight...may even get the fried vegetable plate...yum yum!!!

The Columns on St. Charles Avenue has Cajun music legend David Doucet at 8:00 pm. Sit on the porch, drink a cocktail and watch the streetcars go by.

Another amazing early evening show is Bob French & the Original Tuxedo Band - stop by Irvin Mayfield's Jazz Playhouse at about 8:00 pm to hear Mr. French and the Band...you'll be glad you did. I even heard he had an audience with the President recently...and NO COVER.

The always super fun Chickie Wah Wah on Canal, has the jazzy sounds of Sasha and Steve Masakowksi at 7:00 pm.....and enjoy a FREE giant plate of red beans while you listen.

If you're lookin' for some bluegrass music this evening...you don't have to go too far to find it....Check out the Hi Ho Lounge on St. Claude and the Bluegrass Pickin' Party at 8:00 pm...there's no cover and FREE red beans at this show too!

I don't know much about this band, but I had to mention them cause I love their name - so maybe you should just go check them out....Frogs Gone Fishin' is playing over at the Banks Street Bar and Grill on Bienville in Mid-City at 9:00 pm..I got a link to their site above and they look like fun....gonna try and make this show!!

That should keep you busy for now, as always check out Offbeat for more music fun....until tomorrow.
