Head on down to a free concert at Tulane University Center Quad at 8:00 pm for Local Natives + Ruby Suns + Union Line it's fun and it's FREE!! And if you happen to be looking for some music at lunchtime tomorrow head back over to the Quad at noon for The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra’s 4th Annual Porch Party featuring Glen David Andrews with some special guests!!! (remember Porch Party is tomorrow ;)
Now this sounds pretty cool!! It's 10 X 10 => 11 with Dave Easley....10:00 pm at the Zeitgeist Multi-Disciplinary Arts Center (1618 Oretha Castle Haley)....Internationally renowned Swiss artists and musicians Simon Berz and Kaspar Koenig along with filmmaker Michelle Ettlin will have a 10 day/night residency at Zeitgeist. Each day they will search the streets for trash accompanied by area musicians. They will bring it back to Zeitgeist and build instruments from trash. Each evening they will perform a concert with the new instruments, inviting local musicians to join them. The entire residency will be filmed for a feature-length documentary. Artists interested in participating should contact Rene @ 504 352-1150 or rene@zeitgeistinc.net.
You can get your evening started off right at Chickie Wah Wah on Canal....they have Jimmy Robinson & Cranston Clements Unplugged for an early show at 7:00 pm...and I'm sure there's gonna be some yummy food too!!

Get Fired Up for Kingsley House (1600 Constance) from 6:00 to 9:00 pm tonight!! Kermit Ruffins and his BBQ Swingers will entertain and there will be drinks and raffles. Ruffins will man the grill to cook up tasty treats for guests. Kingsley House serves nearly 7,000 people annually throughout southeast Louisiana with a wide variety of nationally accredited and state-certified capacity-building programs. There is no admission fee, but all who attend are asked to present a business card....and spend some money too on the drinks and raffle!!
Are you having Gretna Fest withdrawal this weekend...no worries....you can still head over to Gretna for some great music and fun this evening! It's Gretna's Rockin' on the River Concert Series from 6:30pm until 8:30pm with the Honey Island Swamp Band. There's gonna be a yummy cask tasting at Chickie Wah Wah tonight from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Check out the new Vanilla Turbodog...I think it's gonna be good one!! It's another night of opera....so head head on down to The Ogden Southern Museum of Art concert today for Ogden after Hours. Music starts up at 6:00 pm and the New Orleans Opera Association is thrilled to be a part and is presenting several members from the cast of "Porgy and Bess" singing highlights from and answering questions (from WWOZ dj Bill deTurk) about one of the most enduring American Operas...(and remember if you get down there early - go grab a cocktail at the Circle Bar on Lee's Circle...one of the best happy hours in town!)
You can also go hang out at City Park this evening for The Thursdays at Twilight Garden Concert Series with John Rankin! The gates open up at 5:00 pm and the performance starts at 6:00 pm in the City Park Botanical Garden Pavilion of the Two Sisters...There is an admission charge, but hey, it's helping the Park out..so....it's a good thing...$8 for adults and $3 for children. 2010 HARVEST THE MUSIC CONCERT SERIES continues....the free concert series benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans & Acadiana....is every WEDNESDAY from September 15-November 3 from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm at LAFAYETTE SQUARE!! In addition to a free, weekly concert, concert-goers will enjoy food and drinks for purchase (no outside food or drinks, please) from local favorites including: Rouses, Beaucoup Juice Snoballs, Crepes a la Cart, Miss Linda's Soul Food Catering, Lil Dizzy's Café, Lucy's Retired Surfers Bar & Restaurant, Oceana Restaurant, Boucherie, and Squeal. It's Masters Month as Irvin Mayfield interprets Porgy and Bess at Irvin Mayfield's Jazz Playhouse (in the Royal Sonesta) at 8:00 pm.....Grammy-nominated and Billboard Award-winning Jazz trumpeter Irvin Mayfield's Masters Month series features The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra and professors from the UNO Jazz Studies Program who together highlight the works of jazz masters. Irvin has partnered with the NOOA for Gershwin Month to interpret music from each of this season's operas. This first Masters Month performance will feature Irvin Mayfield's interpretation of Porgy and Bess.
You can also head on over to The Rusty Nail (1100 Constance) for Opera on Tap from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm....Opera on Tap is a casual, 90-minute concert featuring young local and regional opera singers. For Gershwin Month, the OOT singers will perform a selection of George Gershwin Favorites.

Beautiful Tuesday!

Lots of good stuff going on today!!
You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!!! Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm and pick up some fresh seafood, veggies and you can even get some lunch! Check out some of today's goodness with Pontotoc, Mississippi apples and pumpkins, plus Mt. Hermon, LA chestnuts.....now that sounds delicious!
This evening there's lot of fun stuff going on....
It's gonna be a lovely evening to hang out on the porch at The Columns (3811 St. Charles Ave.)...Have a cocktail and listen to the msucial stylings of John Rankin & Friends and watch the streetcars go by!
For more music fun....come on down to Chickie Wah Wah on Canal Street to enjoy the Ruby and Suki!! Music starts about 8:00 pm, but come early and enjoy the beautiful weather at one of the tables in front, or on the patio!
You can also head on over to Bullet's Sports Bar (2441 AP Tureaud) at about 8:30ish and get down to the sounds of Kermit Ruffins and the BBQ Swingers...there's really no better place to spend your Tuesday night and have a few drinks to celebrate!
If you're lookin' for some Rockin' and Bowlin' and some good food too...Have some dinner over at Ye Olde College Inn..where you'll get some yummy food and a discounted ticket to Rock 'N Bowl...right next door!! It's the Lynn Drury tonight...and the show gets kickin' about 8:30 pm.

Saints Celebratin' the Oktober Fest!!!
GOOD MORNING - GEAUX SAINTS AND PARTY DOWN!!
SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY!!! Come tailgate with the NOFD. The United Fire Fighters Association presents our second tailgate party of the season. 9am on Loyola and Julia (between post office and train station). Look for the firetrucks! We have 50/50 raffle, food, music, and beer on tap out of the Dragos fire truck. Do you have to be a fireman? NOOOO! Come party. Be there!!!!!
It's the Oktoberfest Celebration in the CBD.....The InterContinental's (corner of St. Charles and Poydras) Oktoberfest celebration continues with a German Tailgate Party - experience a tailgate party with a German twist, featuring German cuisine and beverages, before the Saints take on the Carolina Panthers at Noon...The party goes from 9:00am to 1:00 pm!!!
What ya gonna do after the Saints game??? Go to the Oktoberfest Parade of course!!! The fun kicks off at 3:30 pm!!! The German Heritage Festival Association is sponsoring the parade which forms on Elysian Fields Avenue, makes a loop through the FrenchQuarter, and then takes Canal Street to South Galvez Street, disbanding at Deutsches Haus, 200 S. Galvez. WWL-TV meteorologist Laura Buchtel will be grand marshal, and the parade will include bandsand floats representing German states. An after-party, 5-8, at Deutsches Haus ($25 per person) will include dinner, beer, soft drinks, Black Forest Cake and music by Rocky's Hot Fox Trot Orchestra. Reservations required for after-party; call 485.6454 or 522.8014.

As part of the Foundation's Jazz Journey series of tributes to important figures in New Orleans music, an all-star group of New Orleans jazz artists will perform at the festival. The event honors the legacy of Edwin Hampton, who founded the St. Augustine "Marching 100" and was its band director for more than 50 years. Proceeds from "Hamp Fest" will help to provide scholarship funds for needy applicants to St. Augustine, which was founded in 1951 as a Catholic high school for African-American males.
