Looking for amazing vino, delicious food, and music?  Then head on down to the Convention Center today and tomorrow for the New Orleans Wine and Food Experience (NOWFE) Grand Tastings this evening from 6 to 9 pm and tomorrow from 2 to 5 pm.  You're going to have an amazing time (believe me!!) Looking for more wine - then head on over to Bayou St. John (cause it's a wine kind of weekend!)  It's the Friday Free for All from 6 to 8 pm at Swirl Wine Bar & Market (3143 Ponce de Loen).  Don't miss our crazy fun Friday tasting with Beth Kehn pouring four great domesitc wines including some of the Jed Steele selections and chef Walter's "must-try" small plates! This tasting is free!  And be sure to look out for the Swirl folks over at The NOWFE Grand Tastings too!!

And there's more wine on the Bayou! It's Vino on the Bayou at The Pitot House (1440 Moss St.) from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Come enjoy the May Vino on the Bayou tasting with wine courtesy of Pearl Wine Co., musical entertainment from Harmonouche, and food will be available for purchase from Jacques-Imo's and Crabby Jack's - so come hungry! $5 admission for Landmarks members and $10 general admission.

Well, if it's Memorial Day weekend it can only mean one thing...and that's Greek Fest (1200 Robert E. Lee Blvd.) The Big 4-0PA!!! It's the 40th annual Hellenic party with a uniquely New Orleans flair!  Join the fun for delicious food, delightful drinks, and entertainment the entire family will enjoy.  (Entrance fee is only $5...and children under 12 get in FREE!) The fest runs all weekend, and tonight things get kickin' at 5:00 pm...Oh....and make sure you check out the ouzo daiquiri...it's a good one!

And if you're searching for a great little road trip...(it's really not that far)...You've got to head on over to Gonzales for the Jambalaya Festival today through Sunday in Gonzales (120 Irma Blvd.)!!  The festivities get kickin' up today with cooking contests starting up at 10:00 am and the fun runs through midnight....."The World's Largest Jambalaya Cook-Off" is the big event with rides, music, a car show, cooking contests and more then 20 bands!!  For more details on all the fun and how to get there...click here!!

Grand Opening!

It's the Grand Opening of Rabbit Ears (8225 Oak Street) the home of vintage furniture & all kinds of good stuff!!!  The long-anticipated opening  of Rabbit Ears vintage furniture & stuff is opening on Friday (tonight!!) d.b.a.'s (618 Frenchmen) got and early show with The Hot Club of New Orleans at 6:00 pm and stay on for  Eric Lindell  at 10:00 pm...there's a $10 cover, but you don't want to miss the show!!

And there's two great shows at the Blue Nile (532 Frenchmen) - You've got Kermit Ruffins & the BBQ Swingers at 7:00 pm and stay on late for The Stooges Brass Band - it's a fun night at the Nile!  (I'm pretty sure there's a cover for the shows - but it's worth it!)

Toga Sunday (Definitely)...Super Sunday (Maybe)

Happy Sunday!!

Hope you're having a lovely weekend, and our enjoying your Sunday with fun Summer stuff!

And yes, it may be a little later than usual this year...but it's also Super Sunday on Bayou St. John and Orleans!!! (Okay there's a rumor it might not be going on....but isn't that the mystery of the Mardi Gras Indians.)  Head on down there between 1:00 and 3:00 pm...and there's a chance you might see some beautiful costumes...but if they're not there don't get mad at me :) and you can always head down to Broad and Orleans...

This weekend is also the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club elections for their Mardi Gras court at 1:00 pm....Members have been campaigning since March, and it's an affair that will take over Broad and Orleans Ave. While voting is limited to members, come out and enjoy the festivities on the neutral ground....This should definitely be going on...yea!!!

It's the final day of the fabulous Greek Fest (on the corner of Robert E. Lee and St. Bernard) and it's also Toga Sunday!! If you wear a Toga you get in free, and there's gonna be a with this year's Greece on the Bayou...Went there last night, and there is plenty of food, music, dancing and crafts!  Make sure you stock up on some ouzo - OPA!!

And there's fun on the Northshore with Friends Fest!!! Friends Fest was created with the idea of bringing together people, charities, music and art. The festival is today and Monday, with food, music, lots of art and fun for the whole family!!  There will be a stage on Water St. facing Friends Coastal Restaurant.  The event grounds will be from St. Tammany St. to Water St. and Water St. to St. Josephs St.  Admission is $30 for both days of fun, and $20 in advance - click on the above link for more details!

Memorial Day Weekend - Festival Fun!!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend Everybody!!

There are plenty of fun events going on this weekend!!

It's the second day of the fabulous Greek Fest (on the corner of Robert E. Lee and St. Bernard) with this year's Greece on the Bayou...Went there last night, and there is plenty of food, music, dancing and crafts!  Make sure you stock up on some ouzo - OPA!!

Head on over to Gretna for the Gospel Festival (1232 Truxton St.)...there's gonna be lots of choirs, drill teams, a health fair and food galore sponsored by the Missionary Baptist Association from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm today!!
