The NOLA Japanese Cinema Series at Cafe Istanbul (2372 St. Claude Avenue) continues with tonight's film - DEPARTURES by Yôjirô Takita. When his orchestra disbands, Daigo Kobayashi moves back to his hometown and takes a job preparing corpses for burial. Too embarrassed to admit his new career to his family, Daigo keeps his profession a secret, until he’s faced with the death of someone close to him.  Academy Award Winner for Best Foreign Film.

Monday Night Music!

Kicks things off at 7:00 pm with a free concert from the Tulane University Marching Band tonight at Dixon Hall (corner of Newcomb Place and Zimple). Featured music includes the show ‘Extra Curricular Activities’ with music by Pink Floyd, the Police and Van Halen, PLUS a salute to the 200th anniversary of Louisiana statehood with the ‘1812 Overture,’ and the show entitled ‘Cirque de LA,’ featuring music from native Louisianans Britney Spears, the Meters and Louis Prima. Don't miss it!

Enjoy some cocktails and music after the concert with some porch sippin' over at the Columns Hotel (3811 St. Charles)....Tonight David Doucet of fame BeauSoleil performs at 8:00 pm!

Lots of fun around Frenchmen Street!

Glen David Andrews is back for his regular Monday night gig at d.b.a. (618 Frenchmen) - So come on out and say hello, and enjoy the music!

BMC (1331 Decatur) has a great early show at 6:00 pm with Lil Red and Big Bad...then stay on for the next show at 9:30 with Smoky Greenwell's Blues Jam!!

Be sure to make a stop by the Spotted Cat (623 Frenchmen) early for this great line-up of music...Sarah McCoy at 4:00 pm, Dominick Grillo and The Frenchmen Street All Stars at 6:00 pm and be sure to stay on for the Kristina Morales and the Bayou Shufflers at 10:00 pm!

And stop into Snug Harbor (626 Frenchmen) for one of the longest running performers in NOLA - It's Monday night with the Charmaine Neville Band at 8:00 pm - Yes, there's a cover, but Charmaine is worth every penny!  While your there get a Monsoon (watch out their dangerous) and one of the best burgers in town!

To top off you're evening....you gotta go Uptown and over to the Maple Leaf (8316 Oak) for Papa Grows Funk at 10:00 pm - they'll get your Monday night funked up -remember there's a cover - but it's worth it!!!
