Wednesday w/Trombone Shorty, the LPO, Chamber Music, Opera & More!

It's a beautiful Wednesday!!  Celebrate with all kinds of music happenin' round town!

Come on down to Lafayette Square for another stellar line-up for this year's Wednesday at the Square concert series....there will be crafts, food and libations....Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue + Hot 8 Brass Band get things movin' this evening at 5:00 pm - and check out the entire line-up so you can make your plans.

Tonight Swing in the Park with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at Lafreniere Park under the gazebo on the center island of the Park. The LPO is hosting FREE outdoor concert which will feature traditional classic and modern favorites that will please any and all generations of listeners. Selections include: Overture to Light Cavalry, Suite from Carmen, Selections from Phantom of the Opera, Strike Up the Band, Muppet Medley, Traditional New Orleans Medley, Big Band Fantasy, Irving Berlin - A Symphonic Portrait, and Stars and Stripes Forever. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and picnics for a relaxed evening at the park. While refreshments will be available for purchase, guests are invited to bring their own ice chests, food and beverage. Attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food items for Second Harvest Food Bank. Swing in the Park is presented by Fidelity and co-sponsored by Lakelawn Funeral Home and Cemeteries.

Tonight also kicks off the Birdfoot Festival....Named for the branching profile of the Mississippi River Delta, the inaugural Birdfoot Chamber Music Festival begins tonight and runs through Friday evening. The three-night celebration begins with an open rehearsal evening tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Uptown Jewish Community Center (5342 St. Charles Ave.); tomorrow there will be a Festival Concert at 8 p.m. at the Old U.S. Mint (400 Esplanade Ave.), and Friday there will be a "Party at the Piazza" at Piazza d'Italia (300 Poydras St.). Opera returns to Bourbon Street with Opera on Tap - It's New Orleans Summer in the city!  Song, wine, and air condition are the perfect combination for summer fun.! Join the fun tonight at 7:00 pm at the Puccini Bar located at the Inn on Bourbon (541 Bourbon)! The Inn is located at the site of the French Opera House (1859-1919) and continues to celebrate its history with a live performance series.  Special $5 parking is extended to all guests attending the performances.

Head on to Victory Bar (339 Baronne) after the concert for some excellent cocktails and music from Sombras Brilhantes at 8:00 pm...It's a hop, skip and a jump from the Square!

Enjoy some more fun after the Square over at the 12 Bar (608 Fulton) - the fun kicks up at 7:00 pm - they're gonna have crawfish plus the Brass-A-Holics Go-Go Brass Band!

Have fun in Mid-City when you head on over to Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) for modern world folk music with  The Spinning Leaves at 8:00 pm and No Cover!  Come hungry - the kitchen is kickin' with pizza and all kinds of yummy food!

And there's more fun in Mid-City over at the Banks Street Bar (4401 Banks)! Come on out for some Major Bacon and some FREE BLTs - tonight at 10:00 pm...you can never get enough of the bacon and no cover!!

Looking for some dinner and then some music for dessert?  Rock 'N Bowl (3016 S. Carrollton) can help you out!  Get an entree' over at Ye Olde College Inn and then get a half price ticket to the show right next door at Rock N' Bowl....Tonight dance the night away with the sounds of Jerry Embree at 8:30 pm!!

Heading over to Frenchmen Street

There's great music this evening on Frenchmen Street tonight at d.b.a. (618 Frenchmen) catch the early show at 7:00 pm with The Tin Men - and stay on for Walter "Wolfman" Washington and the Roadmasters at 10:00 pm - cover's only $5.00 and you know the Wolfman's worth it!

The Spotted Cat (623 Frenchmen) has an afternoon and evening filled with music!!  Ben Polcer at 4:00, The Orleans 6 at 6:00 pm and top off the night with St. Louis Slim and The Frenchmen St. Jug Band!
