Weekend Fun w/Cats, Veggies, Nature, Champagne and Art!!

Happy Saturday - Lots of good stuff going on today!

Join SpayMart Thrift and Gift (6601 Veterans Blvd) today from 10 am to 4 pm as MEN IN BLACK 3 joins SpayMart's Back in Black, for a national adoption event.   Black cats everywhere are donning their dark glasses and engaging their "flashy things" to wipe out the myths and stereotypes about black cats.....Come out on Saturday to the SpayMart Thrift and Gift and receive advance screening passes and movie posters for Columbia Pictures' new film, MEN IN BLACK 3, opening in theatres on May 25th. In addition, anyone who adopts a cat will receive a special MEN IN BLACK 3 super soaker water gun and sunglasses. Adoption costs will be waived, and you'll get to go home with your forever friend!! Celebrate FORESTival 2012 from 11:00am - 5:00pm today at A Studio In The Woods (13401 Patterson Road)....For the third year in a row, A Studio In The Woods, will host FORESTIVAL - a celebration of art and nature. The festival showcases former artist/residents work as well as the history and happenings of this unique environment. FORESTIVAL is open to the public and offers families a chance to experience Louisiana's Wetlands set to live music, food, artistic demonstrations and more. The event is free, food and drinks are available for purchase and a $5 donation is suggested. Enjoy music from Meschiya Lake, Luther Gray, Mark Growden and Dr. Jean Montes.

And there's more art and fun on Freret at the Du Mois Gallery (4921 Freret)!!  Tonight from 5:00 to 8:00 pm celebrate the opening of their newest show visages featuring Devin Meyers and Fat Kids sponsored by Yelp.  Devin is a folk artist that works in paints and now sequins and has been know to paint the occasional mural or car. Fat Kids might also be recognized as some of the New Orleans' street art. Both bring a sense color and vibrancy, often contemplating countenance and face.  Yelp will host many vendors including Deep Eddy Vodka and Saint Arnold to local fare from Midway Pizza, Dat Dog, La Cocinita and Pure Cake...and are sponsoring the evening, DJ and all!
