Harvest the Music and the Wine!!

Good Morning Everybody,

And of course....the 2010 HARVEST THE MUSIC CONCERT SERIES with only TWO concerts left!!!  The free concert series benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans & Acadiana....is every WEDNESDAY from September 15-November 3 from 5:00 pm to  7:30 pm at LAFAYETTE SQUARE!!  In addition to a free, weekly concert, concert-goers will enjoy food and drinks for purchase (no outside food or drinks, please) from local favorites including: Rouses, Beaucoup Juice Snoballs, Crepes a la Cart, Miss Linda's Soul Food Catering, Lil Dizzy's Café, Lucy's Retired Surfers Bar & Restaurant, Oceana Restaurant, Boucherie, and Squeal. An artists' village will feature artwork and crafts from regional artists and designers, all available for purchase.

OCTOBER 27 IVAN NEVILLE'S DUMPSTAPHUNK plus Good Enough for Good Times
NOVEMBER 3 NEW ORLEANS NIGHTS with Allen Toussaint, Nicholas Payton and The Joe Krown Trio featuring Walter "Wolfman" Washington and Russell Batiste Jr. plus Little Freddie King

And if you like wine.......Sip 40 wines at the Fair Grounds Race Course and Slots (1751 Gentilly Blvd - 4th Floor Clubhouse)  from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm tonight!!!  The event's theme is "Bigger is Better: Robust Reds from Amarone to Zinfandel"....featuring more than two dozen bold New World Wines crafted by top producers from around the world along with cheeses and wine experts, who will discuss and answer wine-related questions.  Guests will sip powerful red varieties from around the world including selections from Italy, California, Spain, Portugal, France and more.  Held in partnership with Dorignac's Food Center, the tasting will showcase 25 top wines for $25.00 per person. Tickets are available at Dorignac's (710 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie) and, if not sold out, will be available at the door.

And of course you got more music!

Make sure to go to Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) for the amazing John Mooney at 8:00 pm....go there a little early for a good table and some yummy food!  I also heard there could be a birthday girl in attendance....so, be lookin' out!!

Head on down to the Sandbar (Deck area of the University Center’s cafeteria) over on UNO's campus at 7:30 pm tonight for Seguenon Kone featuring Brian Seeger’s combo....it's going to be a great nite and admission is only $5.00 for this amazing show...UNO Faculty, Staff and Students get in for FREE!!!

There's a special show over at Irvin Mayfield's Jazz Playhouse at the Royal Sonesta!!  Irvin Mayfield's NOJO Jam presents the music of Louis Armstrong this evening at 8:00 pm...it's gonna be an amazing concert!!

Another great evening foll of music at the Spotted Cat with free swing dance lessons at 5:00 p.m.!!  Brett Richardson at 4:00 p.m., The Loose Marbles + The Rumblers at 6:00 p.m., and to top off the night St. Louis Slim & The Frenchmen St. Jug Band at 10:00 p.m.!

You'll be having a good time at d.b.a. on Frenchmen Street tonight with the early evening show with the Tin Men at 7:00 pm and stay on for Walter Wolfman & the Roadmasters...they come on at 10:00 p.m....for a very small cover and he's worth it!

If you're already in the Marigny (or even if you're not) make sure to stop by Mimi's in the Marigny (2601 Royal) for some Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Review's weekly show at 10:00 pm!  She's leaving town for awhile....so, don't miss this show!!
