Tapas, Wine, Music and Baseball!

Hey Everybody,

There is mucho stuff going on for a Wednesday night...so check it out!!

Get your wine on this evening with Tastings at the Track "Chill Out! Light and Lively Summertime Sippers" at the New Orleans Fairgrounds from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.....Featuring more than two dozen refreshing summertime wines crafted by top producers from around the world.  Selections will include lively varietals such as pinot grigio, sauvignon blanc and riesling, dry rosés, sparkling wines and light reds including pinot noir and chianti, among others.  Held in partnership with Doriganc's Food center, the tasting will showcase 25 top wines for $25.00 per person. Ticekts are available at Dorignac's (710 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie) and, if not sold out, will be available at the door...This is always a fun event..don't miss out!

It's another Wednesday on the Point from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., and of course, admission is FREE..Take the ferry right over to the concert tonight and head to the Dry Dock Cafe and Vine & Dine (100 Delaronde) for Captain Josh Tribute to Jimmy Buffet to celebrate Margarita Wednesday!  Click the above link for complete concert series info!

And it's New Orleans Inaugural Riverbend Tapas Crawl from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.   Chef Laurentino of Barcelona Tapas is organizing the event to demonstrate a tradition of his home country and to promote the dense cluster of Riverbend restaurants he joined this spring after relocating his restaurant, formerly called Laurentino's from Metairie.  Along with Barcelona Tapas, participating restaurants include Brigtsen's Restaurant (723 Dante St.), Dante's Kitchen (736 Dante St.), One Restaurant & Lounge (8132 Hampson St.), and Sara's Restaurant (724 Dublin St.), all of which are located within two blocks of each other.  For the Crawl, you'll find the same format at each stop: Order at the bar, or at another specified area, hand over $5 and you get a tapa-sized dish...plus a short glass of wine. Bring cash to keep it simple...There's no itinerary, so diners are encouraged to wander from place to place...Hoping this inaugural event will be the start to tapas tradition in NOLA!!

Tonight is also the Mission to Musicians Concert Series at St. Anna's Episcopal Church, Parish Hall (1313 Esplanade Ave.) featuring Miss Sophie Lee and her band at 7:30 pm.  The gospel healing Mass and medical services for musicians take place at 6:30 pm.....Dinner and resources are free for musicians (suggested donation $10)....All proceeds benefit the Mission to Musicians Fund!

And if you want to head out to the ballpark.....It's Cheers for Volunteers United Way Kick-Off at Zephyr Stadium (6000 Airline Drive)....Admission to the Zephyrs-Memphis Redbirds game is only $1.  Events include free autographed second-line handkerchiefs for the first 1,000 fans, a drawing for a new car, $1 hot dogs all night.  Jeremy Davenport plays the national anthem at 6:55 p.m. and the game begins at 7:00 pm; (gates open at 6:00 p.m.)  For dollar game admission, visit www.unitedwaynola.org and print out the special coupon.
