He tells a story unlike any other, a story that is true and full of unravelling emotion. Tradition is a staple in Rayland's music. What a beautiful day...Wish I was outside enjoying more of this beautiful weather!!
There's an in-store concert at the Louisiana Music Factory (210 Decatur) at 6:00 pm with Tyne Darling the Milwaukee based roots rock band...it's sure to be a great show, and of course it's FREE!
Need a little culture?? The New Orleans Civic Symphony is performing a program tonight at the UNO Performing Arts Center, University of New Orleans Lakefront Campus at 7:30 pm...The program includes the Grieg Piano Concerto, conducted by James Hammann; the overture from Glinka's "Ruslan and Ludmilla," conducted by Caroline Carson; and Hanson's "Symphony No. 2," conducted by Francis Scully. And yes it'sFREE too!

Countdown to Fat Tuesday!

You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!!! Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm and pick up some fresh seafood, veggies and you can even get some lunch! Woody's Tacos returns to the GPS tent (and every Tuesday this month, except for Fat Tues); Cajun Grain, Nick Usner of GROW Farm & Heather Robertson (Ponchatoula berries) are all there! And of course - Windfield Bakery will have king cakes....yummy!!

Check out the SAVE THE BAYOU FESTIVAL today from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Jean Lafitte Seafood Festival presents this fun fest over at the at the Boomtown Casino, (4132 Peters Road).....Come out and enjoy fresh Louisiana seafood, craft booths, music and much more. And check out this entertainment line-up!!
Amanda Shaw at 11:30 am, Steel Magnolia at 1:30 pm, Pat Greet at 3:30 pm, Uncle Kracker at 5:30 pm, and to close out the night Travis Tritt at 7:30 pm!! Admission for adults is $10 and children under 12 are free. Please come out and support our seafood industry!
Bucktown Seafood Fest continues today at St. Louis King of France School (1600 Lake Avenue)from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm....There's amazing food, games, and music with The Topcats at 5:00 pm...and don't worry Saints fans the game will be on during the fest..so enjoy some great seafood and your Saints too!!!

Nickel-a-Dance is back!! Head on down to the Maison (508 Frenchmen) from 4:00 to 7:00 pm for the New Orleans Classic Jazz Soiree.....FREE and Family Friendly since 1994...this afternoon come for the amazing sounds of Don Vappie's Creole Jazz Serenaders!!
Palmetto Bug Stompers go SMOKE FREE tonite at DBA (618 Frenchmen) from 6:00 to 9:00 pm...The band finally gets the smoke free show they (and many of their fans) have long wanted. Now we can all support one of our favorite bands without compromising our health or the band's! Please spread the word and come support the Bugs and DBA's smoke-free event.

Gorgeous Smoke Free Monday!!

There's gonna be a great breeze from the river today...so it's a good night to take a stroll along the River Road levee, and while you're there be sure to stop at the River Shack Tavern at 7:00 pm for some really GOOD red beans and rice, and the cool sounds of Amanda Walker.

There's a fun double header over at Maison (508 Frenchmen)...You got the amazing Ingrid Lucia at 7:00 pm, and WWOZ will broadcast the Monday Night Super Jam live at 10:00 pm...The Jam features "Rue Fiya!" with Gene Harding, Zena Moses, Matthew Clark, William Repholz, and C.R. Gruver. Many exciting special guests will be performing with the group, including Mem Shannon, Jeremy Phipps, Winston Turner, Mario Abney and Charleston Perkins. This live broadcast is sponsored by http://www.letsbetotallyclear.org/, so the venue will be totally smoke-free for the evening, providing a healthy environment for the musicians, staff and audience....now this sounds like a fun way to spend your evening!!

Labor Day Smoke Free Friday!!!
Morning Everybody...It's Friday - What's happenin'??
Get your wine on this evening with a little tasting at Swirl (3143 Ponce de Leon) with the Friday Free for All from 6 to 8:00 pm....there's gonna be 4 free wines plus tapas from Chef Dan Esses' new restaurant, 3 Muses. At the bar this week they'll be serving up some of Dan's empanadas, fresh pasta and more!!!
Be sure to check out the big Happy Hour this evening at Chickie Wah Wah.....Let's be Totally Clear - Louisiana's Campaign for Smoke Free Living, will be on hand to celebrate the non-smoking music venue/bar!!!
