Remember Those Who Have Passed Before Us....

What a wonderful Halloween it was...with the Saints helping us out with a big win...Now it's time to remember our loved one's who are with us in spirit.  Here are some good ways to celebrate their lives.

It's the 11TH ANNUAL ALL SAINTS DAY TRIBUTE TO JAZZ FUNERALS today at 3:00 pm...."Keeping Jazz Funerals Alive" with the Treme Brass Band!!

Start: D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 1716 N. Claiborne Ave. Out Claiborne to St. Anthony. Right on St. Anthony to N. Robertson to St. Bernard Ave. Right on St. Bernard Ave. to N. Claiborne Ave. Left on St. Philip.

Stop: Charbonnet Family Services, 1615 St. Philip. Proceed down St. Philip to Treme St. Left on Treme to Barracks St. Right on Barracks to Little People's Place.

Stop: Little People's Place. Proceed down Barracks to N. Rampart St. Right on N. Rampart to Ursulines St. Right on Ursulines to St. Claude Avenue. Right on St. Claude.

Disband: Backstreet Cultural Museum, 1116 St. Claude Ave. Presentation and Refreshments.  This second line honors Honoring Al Morris, Chief of the Northside Skull & Bone Gang, 1942-2010 and Ernest Skipper, creator of "Shot Gun Joe," 1948-2009.

Today is also the 30th Annual Day of the Dead/ Gede Celebration from 7:00pm - Midnight at 3319 Rosalie Alley (Dirt Alley off of N. Rampart, Between Piety and Desire, in Bywater)  Please wear white white with purple headscarf or black and purple for Gede. Bring a dish for the people and an offering for the Dead or Gede.  Gede's tastes tend towards peppers, flatbreads, rum, cigars, goat stew, crosses, grave digger's tools, black cock feathers, skeletons, sunglasses with one lens, hot Creole foods, money, the colors black, mauve, and white. He is syncretized with St. Gerard.  Or you can bring something that your ancestors or loved  ones enjoyed in life.  RSVP or for more info: (504) 948-9961.

It's always good to remember our loved ones with music!

Head over to Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) and you will definitely be feelin' whole lot better!!  Groove to the amazing sounds of piano man extraordinaire, Jon Cleary at 8:00 pm....and of course come a little early for a very yummy dinner!!

Stick around Mid-City and go on over to the Banks Street Bar & Grill for the N'Awlins Johnnys at 9:00 pm and some free red beans and rice for your Monday night!
