Satchmo Sunday and Seafood!!

Good Morning Everybody,

Feeling a bit slow today, but don't let last night's drinking prevent you from having a good time today!!

It's the last day of Satchmo Summerfest, so you have to down to the Quarter for all the festivities, fun and music!!

Here's the lowdown....

10:00 a.m. - Noon Jazz Mass at St. Augustine Church (1210 Governor Nicholls Street) Free and open to the public St. Augustine Church (the church of Sidney Bechet) in the historic Treme neighborhood. Celebrate a
unique Sunday morning musical ministry with the Treme Brass Band, along with the St. Augustine Church Choir. Followed by a second-line parade (10-15 blocks) from the church to the Satchmo SummerFest site at the Louisiana State Museum's Old U.S. Mint

At noon, immediately following mass, join us for the 'Satchmo Salute' Second Line Parade, featuring Grand Marshall Boe Monkey Red, Grand Marshall Jenn Jones, Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club, Million dollar Baby Dolls, Baby Boyz Brass Band, Dumaine Street Gang Social Aid and Pleasure Club, The Sudan Social Aid and Pleasure Club, Undefeated Divas Social Aid and Pleasure Club, TBC (To Be Continued) Brass Band, and the The Young Ones Brass Band, presented by Rhodes Funeral Home. This very special second line parade visits Louis Armstrong Park, and then proceeds to Satchmo SummerFest at the Louisiana State Museum's Old U.S. Mint (approximately 15 blocks). The Jazz Mass is held at historic St. Augustine Church in the Treme neighborhood, known for its authentic cultural and musical history. Treme includes Congo Square within Armstrong Park, where slaves gathered on Sundays to worship, sing and dance. This weekly gathering played a significant role in the evolution of jazz.
