Farmer's Market!

You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!  Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm for the freshest veggies, fruits and seafood. Today for the Green Plate Special the Market welcomes Anne Churchill. Last week, Anne kept us warm and happy with her roasted ginger and carrot soup, and satiated our collective sweet tooth with Ponchatoula strawberry shortcake. We can't wait to see what she has to offer this week! A little birdie told us to expect lamb shwarma. Visit the Green Plate Special tent this Tuesday to get your fill of Anne's healthy, hearty fare...yum.

There's a great musical evening on the Avenue at the The Columns (3811 St. Charles Ave.) at 8:00 p.m. tonight!  Have a fancy cocktail and listen to the New Classic Jazz Trio with Tom Sancton, Clarence Johnson III, and John Rankin.

Head on over to Mid-City and to Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) for another great threesome with Tommy Malone (you know him from the Subdudes) with Papa Mali and Cary Hudson at 8:00 pm!!

There's some fun on Frenchmen tonight too over at d.b.a. (618 Frenchmen) with the The Treme Brass Band at 10:00 pm - there's a $5 cover for the show - but you know you don't want to miss it!

Right down the street the Spotted Cat (623 Frenchmen) has a triple header with no cover - Andy Forest at 4:00 pm, Meschiya Lake & The Little Big Horns at 6:00 pm, and top off the evening with the Aurora and the Royal Roses  at 10:00 pm!

It's a full night over at the Maple Leaf Bar on Oak Street...with and early show with the 101 Drummers featuring Lionel Batiste, Jr. at 8:00 pm and hang out for the REBIRTH Brass Band they come on around 10:30ish - there's a cover, but you'll be glad you paid and stayed up late!!

Today for the Green Plate Special Anne Churchill returns with delicious food to warm your bones - roasted ginger and carrot soup, strawberry salad with Meyer lemon vinaigrette, Seitan stew with root vegetables, homey pot roast and mashed potatoes, goat cheese and caramelized onion quiche,and for dessert, strawberry shortcake with freshly whipped cream. Top it all off with a slice of southern brown sugar cake with Shaker Meyer lemon custard.....yum.

Fresh Veggie Tuesday and Lots of Music!

You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!  Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm for the freshest veggies, fruits and seafood. Today for the Green Plate Special the Market welcomes Anne Churchill. This week she'll warm your bones with kale and lentil soup with Meyer lemon; wild boar curry or red curry tofu with coconut rice and mung bean salad; goat cheese and caramelized onion tarts; and raw kale salad with carrot, hemp and chia seeds, dulce and pecan vinaigrette. Top it all off with a slice of southern brown sugar cake with Shaker Meyer lemon custard.....yum.

You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!  Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm for the freshest veggies, fruits and seafood. Today for the Green Plate Special they welcome La Divina Gelateria. This week they'll have tomato basil soup, pancetta sandwich with fontina, greens and tomato jam, turnip parmesean fries and frutti di mare. Yummy!!

And if you want more fresh veggies head on over to the Hollygrove Market.   You can go by their location at 8301 Olive Street between Noon and 6:00 pm, and they have a new pick-up location and from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Rosa F. Tuesday Farmer's Market and Music!

Good morning everybody and happy Tuesday!

Farmer's Market!

You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!!!  Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm.  After wowing us last week, Domenica finishes up the month of May with an amazing menu:  Monica’s vegetable shakshouka with farm eggs and garlic grilled ciabatta, hand-rolled cavatelli pasta with almonds, Mauthe’s cream and Bill Ryals’ pork shoulder, sweet corn custard with Pete & Clara’s pickled shrimp and spring onion salad, Chilton County peach torta with blueberries and salted caramel, and honeydew aqua fresca. Swing by the market this Tuesday and pick up lunch, or dinner!

And there's a great evening on the Avenue....Cause it's another lovely southern night for porch sitting and music over at the The Columns (3811 St. Charles Ave.) from 8:00 to 11:00 pm...Have a fancy cocktail and listen to the New Orleans Guitar Masters with Phil DeGruy, Jimmy Robinson, John Rankin, and Cranston Clements! Brick DuBois, visiting New Orleans for the first time, will play from 8 to 8:30, then the NOGM will take over - 6 string guitars, 7 string guitars, 12 string guitars, and Phil's own 13 or 19 or whatever string guitarp, and they're not afraid to use 'em.  There's no cover, but don't forget to tip the band!

This week vegetarian black bean soup, succotash, chicken fajita salad, jalapeno cornbread and Mary's carrot cake cupcakes....yummy!!
