Happy Wednesday with the Kick-Off to Harvest the Music, Fun at the Market and Music 'Round Town!

Check it out..... It's the start of the 2013 HARVEST THE MUSIC CONCERT SERIES!!!
A free concert series benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans & Acadiana....Every WEDNESDAY, September 11 - October 30 from 5:00 pm to  7:30 pm at LAFAYETTE SQUARE!!

In addition to a free, weekly concert, concert-goers will enjoy food and drinks for purchase (no outside food or drinks, please) from local favorites. An artists' village will feature artwork and crafts from regional artists and designers, all available for purchase.

Here's the line-up for the series!!!

Sept 11 - Honey Island Swamp Band + Colin Lake Band
Sept 18 – The Soul Rebels + Mia Borders
Sept 25 - Trombone Shorty and Orleans Ave. + New Breed Brass Band
Oct 2 - Irma Thomas and The Professionals + Khris Royal & Dark Matter
Oct 9 - Dragon Smoke + Pigeon Town
Oct 16 – The Revivalists + Papa Mali
Oct 23 - Voice of the Wetlands + Rich Collins
Oct 30 - Raw Oyster Cult + Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes

Market Fun!

Head on over to Lakeview and the Harrison Avenue Marketplace presented by Beacon of Hope tonight from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm in the parking lot of Lakeview Grocery at 801 Harrison Avenue.  You'll enjoy music by the Scott Schmidt Band and there will be 75 arts, crafts and food vendors!  Creative Sitters will be there with great activities for the little ones. You can enjoy the famous char-grilled oysters from Drago's or Baked Alaska from Antoine's. Stop by the Beacon Beverage booth to enjoy a refreshing libation from an array of thirst quenchers. Try the Velvet Cactus Margarita-frozen or on the rocks!

Wednesday Evening Music

While you're on Frenchmen Street check out all the music up and down the street!!

There's great music this evening on Frenchmen Street tonight at d.b.a.  (618 Frenchmen) - with an early and a late show.  Come check out The Tin Men at 7:00 pm with no cover - And then it's Walter "Wolfman" Washington and the Roadmasters at 10:00 pm - cover's only $5.00 and you know the Wolfman's worth it!

The Spotted Cat (623 Frenchmen) has an afternoon and evening filled with music!!  Ben Polcer at 4:00, The Orleans 6 at 6:00 pm and top off the night with St. Louis Jim & The Frenchmen St. Jug Band!

Have fun in Mid-City when you head on over to Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) for  Meschiya Lake and Tom McDermott at 8:00 p.m. And be sure to come hungry for your sammich!!

And there's more fun in Mid-City over at the Banks Street Bar (4401 Banks)! Come on out for "The Grammy nominated Blues" of the one and only Major Bacon and some FREE BLTs - tonight at 10:00 pm...you can never get enough of the bacon and no cover!!

Looking for some dinner and then some music for dessert?  Rock 'N Bowl (3016 S. Carrollton) can help you out!  Get an entree' over at Ye Olde College Inn and then get a half price ticket to the show right next door at Rock N' Bowl.....Get on your dancing shoes for the The Creole String Beans tonight at 8:30 pm!!
