Thursday Holiday Fun!!

Good Morning Everybody - it's time for some special holiday shopping and music!

Don't miss out on the weekly wine tasting at Cork and Bottle (3700 Orleans ) about 5:00 pm in Mid-City - Taste some amazing wines.  So, come sip, shop and get some gifts for your friends and family! You can also stop at Clever (right next door) for their "tasting special" - $1 off your first cocktail after attending the free wine tasting.  And be sure to stop by the Crescent City Farmer's Market and patronize local Louisiana vendors with fresh veggies, seafood and more! 

Need a little art, culture and music? You gotta go to the show at the Ogden Southern Museum of Art (925 Camp St.) -better known as Ogden after Hours.  The concert starts up at 6:00 pm with Jon Dee Graham, a legend on the Austin music scene. He's been inducted into the Austin Music Hall of Fame three times, in 2000 as a solo artist, in 2008 as a member of the Skunks, and in 2009 as a member of the True Believers, plus my hubby Bill deTurk will be on hand for the in depth interview!   Come enjoy a delicious hot toddy at the "O" bar, and remember if you're a member of the Ogden you always get in free!

THE NEW ORLEANS CRAFT MAFIA PRESENTS: THE 6TH ANNUAL *LAST STOP SHOP AT THE BIG TOP! It's a holiday market and Party tonight from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the Big Top Art Gallery (1638 Clio St.).   For all you last-minute shoppers - and we know there are lots of you - the New Orleans Craft Mafia's got you covered. The holiday market and party will feature unique and funky handmade creations from all 13 of the current members of the New Orleans Craft Mafia as well as snacks, a cash bar, live music and our annual Handmade Holiday Ornament + Tree Raffle, with proceeds benefiting KIDsmART. We hear Santa himself may even be in attendance! And to motivate you to get there early, the first 25 people in the door will get free gift bags with items from all the members of the New Orleans Craft Mafia!

Celebrate the season at Lafreniere Park (3000 Downs Boulevard) - The annual “Holiday in the Park” The beautiful light display is nightly from dusk 'til 9:00 pm and admission is $3 a car.  The light display is generously donated by the family of the late Al Copeland - The park comes alive for the holidays with thousands of twinkling lights and displays.

And there's more holiday fun at City Park with Celebration in the Oaks! The Celebration runs nightly through January 1st - Sunday thru Thursday from 6:00 pm to 10:00pm and Friday & Saturday 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm (closed Christmas Eve and New Years Eve). There are fabulous new exhibits, nightly entertainment, synthetic ice skating rink, amusement park rides. There's lots of fun going on over at Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) tonight!  Come on over for XXXmas with Phil deGruy & Michael Skinkus.  And don't forget to come hungry for some yummy Garage Pizza!!

It's a lovely evening for some winter cocktails and Latin music over at the the Columns Hotel (3811 St. Charles) this evening.  Enjoy the sounds of Fredy Omar at 8:00 pm.

Spotted Cat Music Club (623 Frenchmen) has a triple header with Brett Richardson at 4:00 pm, Miss Sophie Lee at 6:00 and stay on and party with The Smokin' Time Jazz Club at 10:00 PM!!

There's more fun on Frenchmen over at d.b.a. (618 Frenchmen) with piano playin' man Meschiya Lake & The Little Big Horns at 7:00 pm with no cover!!  And stay on for Egg Yolk Jubilee ($5 cover) at 10:00 pm - you don't want to miss it!!
