TGIF - Wine, a Courtyard Concert, a Movie, a Mermaid Reunion & More!

Hurray for Friday and what a beautiful day it is!!

Always a fun way to kick things off. It's the weekly wine tasting over at Cork & Bottle (Orleans at Moss St.) - from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.  Come out and sample some fantastic wines selections from their newest wines specialists...Chris & Richard both sommeliers with years of wine expertise!. And you can double your wine tasting fun!  Check out Swirl located on Ponce de Leon right off Esplanade and enjoy a FREE wine tasting at 6:00 pm. Once you've tasted one of their excellent choices you'll be sure to be buy a bottle! 

Check out The Where Y'Art? party this evening over at the New Orleans Museum of Art starting at 5:00 pm with Gallery & Exhibition Tours, lots of fun activities and music!! The event is FREE with museum admissions. $10 Adults, $8 seniors, students, active military, $6 children ages 17 to 7, children 6 and under are free.
  • 5:30 pm  to 8:00 pm: an art making activity for the kiddies
  • 5:30 to 8:30 pm: Music by Africa Brass Band
  • 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm: Directors Dialogue with NOMA Director Susan Taylor and Director Emeritus John Bullard

Head down to the Quarter for Concerts in the Courtyard at the Historic New Orleans Collection....What a treat this is (and beautiful weather!).....Experience a concert in the courtyard at the Historic New Orleans Collection in the heart of the French Quarter - 533 Royal Street. The show is from 6:00 to 8:00 pm with the Tin Men...FUN!!! Admission is $10, FREE for THNOC members, and includes 3 complimentary beers and sparkling wine from Southern Eagle.!!! Guests must be 21 or older to enter and memberships begin at the low low price of $35.00 per household.

It's a beautiful night for an outdoor movie! Come out for French Movie Night with a silent auction, food, drinks, fun and the movie Ratatouille at Coliseum Square (1700 Coliseum)starting at 6 p.m. Bring the family and blankets and chairs and enjoy an evening under the stars! All proceeds benefit the Audubon Charter School's 5th grade trip to France in May 2012. The trip is the capstone of six years of French education and will send the 22 students in the class to live with a French family and attend school in Avignon. Head on over to Chickie Wah Wah on Canal for their happy hour and a triple header of music this evening.  Come on by around the 5 o'clock hour and music with Jesse Moore startin' up at 5:30, and stay on for Paul Sanchez at 8:00 pm there's a small cover, but Paul is worth the dinero!  Top off the evening with Harry Hardin's Electric Yat String Quartet at 10:00 pm!  The kitchen is back open so come hungry for delicious pizza and such!

And there's more good music in Mid-City (almost Uptown) over at Rock 'N Bowl (3016 S. Carrollton) for Kermit Ruffins & the BBQ Swingers at 9:30 pm!!  Remember if you eat at Ye Olde College Inn right next door you get a discount to the show!  Happy rockin' and bowlin'!

Right down the street you have another trio of shows at BMC (1331 Decatur)...with El the Orazio and Friends at 3:00 pm, Soul Project at 6:00 pm, and Dana Abbot at 10:00 pm!!

d.b.a.'s (618 Frenchmen) got The Hot Club of New Orleans at 6:00 pm it's FREE, but don't forget to tip the band!! And stay on for Hot 8 Brass Band at 10:00 pm...there's a $5cover, but you don't want to miss the show!!

Head on over to St. Claude Avenue tonight for the Mermaid Lounge Reunion Fest at the Hi Ho Lounge and Siberia (2200 block of St. Claude) with two nights of music starting up at 9:00 pm...A $10 cover gets you into both clubs and check out the line-up for tonight!!
