Mo' Gumbo, Holiday Fun, and Say Good-bye to K-Doe!

Stay warm today by eating some yummy gumbo at The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation celebrates the rich traditions of music, food and community with the third annual Treme Creole Gumbo Festival. The festival is today at the Jazz & Heritage Center (1255 N. Rampart), and the fest also includes fabulous holiday shopping at the fifth annual Jazz & Heritage Holiday Bazaar - with a slew of vendors offering wearable art, items for the home and other hand-made specialties.

OUR LADY OF GOOD COUNSEL CHURCH TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS CONCERT RETURNS!! The traditional Christmas Concert presented by OUR LADY OF GOOD COUNSEL CHURCH (1307 Louisiana Ave.)returns to the Garden District after 2 years, thanks to Archbishop Aymond, who has granted permission for the traditional Garden District Christmas Concert to be presented once again IN the church today at 4:00 pm!! Enjoy the talents of Phyllis Treigle, Melissa Brocato, Kevin Rouchell, Louis Hackett, Brian Morgan and the Good Shepherd Parish Choir. OUR LADY OF GOOD COUNSEL CHURCH has been unable to present their traditional Christmas Concert in the church since being "closed" by the Archdiocese of New Orleans in October 2008.
ALL DONATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AND GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Faubourg Marigny Improvement Association presents Holiday Arts Market with Music and Candlelight Caroling today in Washington Square and Frenchmen St.!!! Find one of a kind gifts for those on your list with fantastic music. And don't forget to bring your wish-list to Pere Noel (aka Santa Claus) so that he knows you've been good all year! Then take a dinner break at one of the wonderful restaurants in the neighborhood and come back for the 36th annual Candlelight Caroling at 6pm in the Square. Check out the fun schedule of events!!

Christmas New Orleans Style continues this evening with the Cathedral Christmas Concerts at the St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square!!  Local choirs and New Orleans artists herald in the season with nightly concerts of Christmas carols and gospel favorites in one of the country's most historic churches. Concerts start at 6:00 pm and last about one hour. FREE and open to the public.

It's K-Doe's Final Big Bash and you should be there for the big send off of this iconic New Orleans landmark. The send off starts at 8:00 pm and for $20.00 (which is gonna help out Ms. Betty Fox with her expenses). The evening includes free food and free drinks, and a free autographed poster of Ernie-K-doe at his last Jazz Fest Performance (while they last!!). The evening will see the auctioning Quintron's drum buddy. The musical line-up is stellar so don't miss this one!!
