One Mo' Harvest, Rock N' Bowl Celebrates 22 and Much More!!

Good Morning Everybody,

It's the last concert for the 2010 HARVEST THE MUSIC CONCERT SERIES with only TWO concerts left!!!  The free concert series benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans & Acadiana....is every WEDNESDAY from September 15-November 3 from 5:00 pm to  7:30 pm at LAFAYETTE SQUARE!!  In addition to a free, weekly concert, concert-goers will enjoy food and drinks for purchase (no outside food or drinks, please) from local favorites including: Rouses, Beaucoup Juice Snoballs, Crepes a la Cart, Miss Linda's Soul Food Catering, Lil Dizzy's Café, Lucy's Retired Surfers Bar & Restaurant, Oceana Restaurant, Boucherie, and Squeal. An artists' village will feature artwork and crafts from regional artists and designers, all available for purchase.

It's the Food Network Premiere Party at Henry's Bar (5101 Magazine) tonight!!!  Watch Food Network Tailgate Warriors with Guy Fieri....this episode features a tailgating competition between the Saints and the Vikings fans and most importantly a special appearance by the Jambalaya Girl, who is cooking Cook Me Somethin’ Mister Jambalaya in her Who Dat Pot!!!  Airs Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 9:00 PM CT on Food Network, but come by Henry's for  FREE JAMBALAYA, cheap drinks and lots of "Yum Yum, Come Get You Some!!!"

Make sure to go to Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) for the Tex-Mex sounds of the Iguanas at 8:30 pm, and there's gonna be Zydeco dance lessons too (check out the website for sign-up info!!  Go there a little early for a good table and some yummy food!

Head on down to the Sandbar (Deck area of the University Center’s cafeteria) over on UNO's campus at 7:30 pm tonight for John Ellis....it's going to be a great nite and admission is only $5.00 for this amazing show...UNO Faculty, Staff and Students get in for FREE!!!

There's a special show over at Irvin Mayfield's Jazz Playhouse at the Royal Sonesta!!  Irvin Mayfield's NOJO Jam presents the music of the music of Gerry Mulligan and Chet Baker this evening at 8:00 pm...it's gonna be an amazing concert!!

Another great evening full of music at the Spotted Cat with free swing dance lessons at 5:00 p.m.!!  Brett Richardson at 4:00 p.m., The Orleans 6 at 6:00 p.m., and to top off the night St. Louis Slim & The Frenchmen St. Jug Band at 10:00 p.m.!

Happy Tuesday!!

Happy Tuesday Everybody,

Don't let the rain get you down....there's lots of good stuff going on today!!

You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!!!  Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm and pick up some fresh seafood, veggies and you can even get some lunch!  1st of the season satsumas from A&K Citrus, shelled pecans from Inglewood Farm, Timmy Perilloux is back with greens galore and one of our favorite Bywater breakfast spots, Satsuma, is under the GPS tent!!

This evening there's lot of fun stuff going on....

It's gonna be a lovely evening to hang out on the porch at The Columns (3811 St. Charles Ave.)...Have a cocktail and listen to the musical stylings of John Rankin & Friends and watch the streetcars go by!

For more music fun....come on down to Chickie Wah Wah on Canal Street to enjoy The New Orleans Nightcrawlers!!  Music starts about 8:00 pm and if you've never seen the Nightcrawlers you really need to go!! Come by early and get some yummy food before the show!

If you're lookin' for some Rockin' and Bowlin' and some good food too...Have some dinner over at Ye Olde College Inn..where you'll get some yummy food and a discounted ticket to Rock 'N Bowl...right next door!!  It's Clarence "Tadpole" Henry tonight...the show gets kickin' about 8:30 pm.

It's the Funky Halloween Kick-Off Party at the French Market from 5:00 to 8:00 pm!!  Get your groove on, try out your costume and party with us before the big scary weekend!  Live music in Dutch Alley with Mia Borders and Margie Perez, two vibrant and vivacious female musicians who perform their own styles of funky rhythm and blues.  Convenient parking behind Dutch Alley in the French Market parking lot (enter just past Jax Brewery; take right at the light and immediate left before railroad tracks).
