Enjoy Your Thursday with Concerts, Jaguars, a Speakeasy and Lots of Music!

It's a lovely Thursday!

It's a beautiful night to hang out at City Park and enjoy Tom McDermott and Aurora Nealand for the Twilight Garden Concert Series! Aurora Nealand, an established bandleader, composer, and musical improviser, will join Tom McDermott, one of New Orleans most versatile piano players, and a regular of the Twilight Series. The gates open up at 5:00 pm and the performance starts at 6:00 pm in the City Park Botanical Garden Pavilion of the Two Sisters...There is an admission charge, but hey, it's helping the Park out...$10 for adults and $3 for children.

Need a little art, culture and music? You gotta go to the show at the Ogden Southern Museum of Art (925 Camp St.) - better known as Ogden after Hours. Tonight the Ogden has Cedric Burnside.  Grandson of late North Mississippi Hill Country Blues legend R.L. Burnside, Cedric Burnside has emerged as a multi-talented blues musician in his own right. Cedric was born and raised in Holly Springs, Mississippi. He began touring and playing drums with his grandfather's band at the age of 13.   Be sure to head on over to the bar for this month's signature drink - The Irish O-Ale - *Remember with your Ogden membership all of these excellent concerts are FREE!!!

Tonight, from 5:30 to 8:30P, please join International House and loa bar to honor Malcolm Sayer and the legendary E-Type Jaguar he designed. Special guests include Britain’s own Bullrun founder Andrew Duncan and members of the Gulf Coast Jaguar Club on this the E-Type’s 52nd birthday. A bevy of vintage XKE’s will grace the hotel streetscape, protected by Queen’s Guards, and set to the Rolling Stones’ and Beatles’ best beats.

There's lots of fun going on over at Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) tonight!  It's The Creole String Beans - tonight about 8! And come early for the WWNO Speakeasy - 6:00 pm! General Manager Paul Maassen moderates a discussion on environmental concerns that impact the Gulf Coast, Southeastern Louisiana and far beyond. The austere panel includes Pulitzer Prize-winning environmental journalist Bob Marshall and Louisiana State Director from the National Wildlife Federation’s Coastal Louisiana Campaign David Muth. And come hungry for a Louisiana seafood sammich for dinner!

And head on over to Frenchmen and the Spotted Cat Music Club (623 Frenchmen) cause they have a triple header with Sarah McCoy's Oopsie Daisies at 4:00 pm, Miss Sophie Lee at 6:00 and stay on and party with Jumbo Shrimp at 10:00 PM!!

There's more fun on Frenchmen over at d.b.a. (618 Frenchmen) with Jon Cleary at 7:00 pm with no cover!!  And stay on for more music with Lagniappe Brass Band ($5 cover) at 10:00 pm - you don't want to miss it!!

Need a little art, culture and music?
